Why " Roman Catholic " instead of " Catholic "?
We use the phrase " Roman Catholic " in place of " Catholic " to avoid confusion. Most Christian faith groups acknowledge the Nicene Creed and thus regard themselves as "Catholic," at least as far as being part of the " catholic and apostolic church ." Within any one given faith group, the meaning of the term " Catholic " is relatively clear. But our site deals with all Christian denominations and all other religions. To assure clarity and to avoid ambiguity, we use the term " Roman Catholic " when referring to the church headed by the pope in Rome. We use similar terms (e.g. Evangelical Catholic, Anglo-Catholic) when referring to some other faith groups. We often use the abbreviation RCC to refer to the Roman Catholic Church. This saves wear and tear on your eyeballs and on our fingers.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle...
The Wisdom of Bishop Cawcutt Dissident and homosexual activist continues unpunished Bishop Reginald Cawcutt of South Africa made statements directly opposed to the Church's teaching on contraception, fornication and homosexuality when he gave his recommendations to the people of Africa: "Ideally the only way of stopping Aids is through stopping sex. There is, however, a big difference between the ideal and the reality. ... Abstain until you're in a stable relationship, preferably marriage, whether it be gay or straight, or whatever. And then be faithful to your partner. ... If you are promiscuous you could get Aids, so you should learn to use condoms correctly." (emphasis mine here and throughout) The bishop also voiced support for condoms and remarked that the Catholic Church's opposition to the use of contraception was "based on theological, rather than Biblical reasoning." Aside from being morally bankrupt, his advice also suffers from the practical problem that the effectiveness of condoms in preventing STDs is, at best, questionable. In a recently released statement, several groups representing over 10,000 doctors have accused the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) of covering up their own government's research that shows condoms do not protect individuals from most sexually transmitted diseases.

" ...the greater tragedy lies in the future when young men and women come to understand their sexual orientation, and learn that they are truly strangers in the pews who are asked not to tell who they are or whom they love. " Dignity/USA " Homosexuality: Sexual activity between persons of the same sex. It is not a normal condition, the acts being against nature are objectively wrong. " The Catholic Encyclopedia. "The research on homosexuality is very clear. Homosexuality is neither mental illness nor moral depravity. It is simply the way a minority of our population expresses human love and sexuality. Study after study documents the mental health of gay men and lesbians. Studies of judgment, stability, reliability, and social and vocational adaptiveness all show that gay men and lesbians function every bit as well as heterosexuals." United States What is Christ The Light American Catholic Church Christ The Light American Catholic Church was founded in and incorporated in 1997, as an alternative to the oppressive structures and strictures of the Roman Catholic Church, yet without denying basic catholic beliefs of faith and love, spirituality and community, prayer and sacramentality. It is a newly formed rite, as in the tradition of the Orthodox churches of the Catholic tradition and the Old Catholic Church of Utrecht. It remains a CATHOLIC CHURCH and its priests are considered Catholic priests. Thus, the Christ The Light American Catholic Church is not founded, nor is it organized in direct antagonism or opposition to all that the Roman Catholic Church teaches and esteems. Rather, it is founded and organized in such a way that oppression and intolerance are ignored, in the face a a positive, genuine respect of individuality and freedom, within the context of belief in a loving, forgiving, and compassionate God, as revealed in Jesus, the Good Shepherd: who sought out and embraced as the most important in the kingdom of God the ones who are considered the least of human society and the institutional church. For, unless the least in our midst are seen as Christ, there is no resurrected Jesus and the credibility of belief falters, and unless the least are loved, there is no unconditional love of the Lord God.
