This term was invented later on to describe the attempt to produce an all-embracing synthesis of philosophy and religious ideals. From Plotonius [204 - 270 AD] there was a complex system at the heart of which was this idea of the 'One', a supreme something, which was a force from which goodness emanated. Neo-Platonists unified the ideas of Aristotle, the Stoics, some of Pythagoras, mystical ideals, bits of myth and a Platonic reworking of everything in which the body was bad and the spiritual good. If this sounds like Christianity without Christ, that's probably because the Christian synthesis was rather similar. " Platonism/Neo-Platonism world 500 C.E.

    http://pages.prodigy.net/sathi/ourhistory.html
A Brief Outline of the “Plymouth Brethren”: History, Doctrines, and Practices Dr. Sunny Ezhumattoor( John Mathew Thekkel) M.A.,Ph.d. The Plymouth Brethren movement was an independent work of the Holy Spirit, which is apparent from the fact that, in A. D. 1812 and 1820, letters were passed between a company of believers in Great Britain. The Brethren believe that they represent the true church established on the day of Pentecost. The two guiding principles of the movement were to be the breaking of bread every Lord’s Day, and ministry based upon the call of Christ rather than the ordination of men. They follow and obey the Scripture, refusing to follow human tradition and creed. Others call them Brethren, but they prefer to be called Christians. Doctrine and Practices The Brethren seek to assemble in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to maintain the apostolic pattern and simplicity which marked the churches of the days of the apostles (Romans 12:4-8). We honor the Lord Jesus and worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). The Church began with the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and is composed of all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. These believers are united to Him and to one another by the indwelling Spirit. This means that the Church, as a whole, is not an organization, but a living organism, known as the body of Christ. Every true child of God possesses eternal life, and being justified, sanctified, and sealed with the Holy Spirit, is safe and secure for all eternity. However, a Christian can, through sin, lose his fellowship, joy, power, testimony, and reward, thus incurring the Father’s chastisement. Relationship is eternal, being established by new birth; fellowship, however, is dependent upon obedience.

Plymouth, Brethren The movement came to America as the result of the emigration of a number of the members who located in the United States and Canada about the middle of the 19th century. Mr. Darby made several trips to this country and a number of congregations were formed. Since that time meetings have multiplied and the church has been established in several states. This church was not established in Kansas, however, until a late date, for in 1900 there was but one organization, located in Woodson county, with 16 members. During the next fifteen years rapid progress was made, as 17 organizations were reported in 1905 with a total membership of 308. http://users.iafrica.com/l/ll/lloyd/7-EndTimeIssues/Darby.htm
John Darby His Special Error John Nelson Darby was born in London of Irish parents on November 18, 1800. Ireland furnished the backdrop for his earliest years of development and education. In 1819 at the age of eighteen, Darby graduated from Trinity College Dublin. He studied Law, but decided not to practice. Instead, he became a Church of Ireland clergyman. While convalescing after a fall from a horse his heart was captured by the richness of the Bible. Against the tendency of his time to read 'church' whenever the Bible mentioned Israel, he rediscovered the distinction between God's national covenant with Israel and His new covenant in Christ. Unfortunately he then concluded further that - the second coming of Christ for Christians ( see note ) will be a distinct and separate event from Christ's return to Israel as their king; in which these two events will be separated by a period of God's wrath on the world, during which time the church will be celebrating with Christ in heaven. He began to meet with the first group of 'Brethren' and, distressed by the rampant modernism among his fellow Anglican clergy, he finally left the Church of Ireland and joined himself to those who later became known as 'Plymouth Brethren' and from 1848 as the 'Exclusive Brethren'.

Plymouth 96 Worthing 82 Another huge Pavilions crowd witnessed the Plymouth Raiders move through to the Play Off Championship game with an enthralling 96-82 victory over Worthing Thunder on Saturday. Raiders came out of the blocks the more confident side to take a fast and furious first quarter 32-21 with guard Gavin Love (12) and forward Roderick Wellington (10) sinking the crucial early points. A 9-0 run early in the second period brought Worthing some hope as Steven Gayle put pressure on Raiders defence and converted 5 free throws to help reduce the deficit to 4 points. An unexpected source provided Raiders with new impetus as Deng Deng replaced Terrence Durham who was in foul trouble and recorded 6 points and 4 boards in a 6 minute spell to keep Raiders in the lead at 50-43 at the interval. With Dean Williams also falling foul of the referees’ whistles there was another twist for Raiders as back up guard mark Cahill entered the action in mid third quarter, when Thunder had pulled to within 2 points at 65-63, and put together the game of his life to knock down 2 swift treys and a total of 13 points in his 17 minutes straddling the final quarter break.

Hit Counter 108314 Visitors Who's online There is currently 4 guests and members online Histoy of Assemblies ASSEMBLY TESTIMONY: “A people without history are a people without character.” A MOVEMENT of GOD Almost two centuries ago, the Holy Spirit moved on the hearts of godly men and women who were a part of denominational systems. Some of them were prominent leaders in church, government and society. This movement was not of men. There is ample evidence that it was of God. Formal religion had in many cases become little more than a pretense. Many claimed church membership without salvation. Spiritual minds rejected the dead formalism, mere ritualism and a clergy without Christ. They searched the Scriptures, often on their knees, to know what God would have them do. What they discovered was the simplicity of an assembly that gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was a mighty awakening by the Spirit in their hearts.
