This is because... well, I think I went over this before, so I don't feel the need to review. Anyways, the photo you see is me holding up my handy, dandy card saying I'm a deputy voter registrar. Woot. For those of you who don't know yet, I have a job working as a canvasser for New Voters Project this summer. Pretty much, my job is to go register voters between the ages of 18-24. Needless to say, that it doesn't pay that much - but unlike many other jobs I've had (*cough*BestBuy*cough*), I should actually have fun doing this. Of course, this means that my little brother David is my boss.

Book of Shadows The Difference Between Spells and Rituals On the surface the terms " spell " and " ritual " seem interchangeable meaning more or less the same thing. In grimoires, books of shadows, and other sources of esoteric study, these two words are commonly confused. In truth, these words have very different definitions with the word "spell" (also defined as a "state of awareness", "state of being" or "state of mind") implying an action that is "short and capable of manifesting some kind of change The word "ritual" in a magickal sense implies an action that is " repeated to create or regain " a certain "state of mind". This sounds like the same thing, but rituals are often performed before and after spells to achieve the appropriate atmosphere in either the mind of the witch , the witch’s natural environment (physical plane) or in the astral plane where spirits dwell. Subsequently, the most significant difference between spells and rituals is that rituals have been historically designed for purposes of maintenance and preparation . Spells, on the other hand, are most often intended for the

L paganus villager, rustic, civilian, non-militant;] A person holding religious beliefs other than those of any of the main religions of the world, spec. a non-Christian; a follower of a polytheistic or pantheistic religon. - The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, 1993 According to the New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, the origin of the word pagan comes from the Latin paganus. Throughout history the meaning has evolved to mean many different things, although the established definition, someone following a polytheistic or pantheistic religion, is generally the most accepted. Polytheism, according to the New Shorter Oxford, is "the doctrine or belief that there is more than one god; worship of several gods" and pantheism is "the belief or theory that god and the universe are identical [implying a denial of the personality and transcendence of god]; the identification of god with forces of nature and natural substances". A few common polytheistic religions are Buddhism, Hinduism, Wicca, Shinto and Voodoo. Some historical polythestic religions are the ancient Egyptian religion, Druidism and the ancient Greek and Roman religions. Panthiests can be found in every religion, from Christianity to Neo-Druidism.

Paganism and
Censorship on the Net
athomps at adf org Cyberspace. The Information Superhighway. Surfing the Net. These are all phrases which are flying at us daily with warp speed. How does all this media excitement affect us? More importantly, once you get past the hype, what does all this technology really mean for us as Pagans? Questions like these often raise more questions than they answer, but in this article I'd like to focus on one specific area: Censorship. There is currently very little to prevent someone from posting whatever they like to a web page or newsgrouptruth or falsehood, obscenity or advertisementand people frequently become justifiably concerned about the quality of the information they download, and what their children might download. Unfortunately, as has always been the case with censorship, what is "unacceptable" is often all too relative. Even more unfortunate for Pagans, as their religions have always been in the non-mainstream 'fringes' of society, they have all too often fit into the unacceptable category as well. As parents and various social and religious activists place increased pressure on governments and industry alike to regulate Internet content, there is a very real fear among Pagans that they will be victims of yet another round of discrimination performed in the name of "protecting the children". This article will explore general trends in censoring Internet content, and specifically how this censorship may affect Pagans now and in the future.

by Joanne I'm not what you could call an average teenager. I'm pagan, bisexual have also been diagnosed with Bulimia Nervosa, Unipolar and possible Bipolar disorder, suicidal tendicies, self harming, anxiety disorder and so many others that I really just can't remember them all.. All that I am is rather controversial but it's part of me and that's what matters. If you don't agree with it well then I guess that's your choice but open-mindedness is a charactoristic that people treasure.
Within these pages you will find my grimoire or part of it. If you don't know what a Grimoire is then I suggest you leave. The difference between a Grimoire and a Book of Shadows is actually rather large. A Grimoire contains all of your spells and information for writting them, where as a Book of Shadows contains a magickal diary, a dream journal and things alone those lines. You won't find my BOS in here because that is somthing that I feel should be completely private to the individual writting it, but I'll provide information needed to write spells, as well as some spells that have worked well for me in the past. Some of the spells you'll find on here are very controversial but each witch has a right to make his/her own choice about what or what not to cast. The summer solstice marks the first day of the season of summer and the beginning of the Midnight Sun in the North. The American Charles Brace was one of the first foreigners who spoke enthusiastically of the midnight sun while traveling in the North. He was in northern Norway during the summer of 1856, and he exclaimed with excitement: "THE MIDNIGHT SUN! It was a splendid spectacle - the rays sparkling over the beautiful Fiord, lighting up distant snowy mountains, shining back from peak to peak far away, and the whole sphere majestically rising and clearing away what a moment before had been the clouds of evening, but were now the mist of morning. The light too was a different one, at least to our imagination - purer, cleaner, and fresher."

The Polish term for god is bóg,m. (boog )/ bogini,f. (boh-GEE-nee) / bostwo, n. (BOH-stvoh); loosely it translates out to "noble", and is Iranian is derivation, according to linguistic sources. Nobility, however, in the years following the C.E., came more into contact with outside peoples, and began to worship in the manner of these civilizations. It seems that the spirits that the peasants honored were anthropomorphized and given temples and statues in their honor. This type of worship, however, was short-lived, having only just started a short time before Christianity swept through in the ninth and tenth centuries CE. In the fifteenth century, the great Polish writer Jan Dlugosz applied a great deal of zeal to rebuilding the Polish pantheon in the likeness of Greek and Roman Gods with the aid of a series of The embracing of Christianity by Polish nobility came in 966, when Poland "officially" became a state in the eyes of the West, and Mieszko ascended the throne. Their sister territory, Lithuania, was the last pagan state in Europe, not becoming officially a Christian state until Duke Jagie³³o married into the Polish dynasty in 1374. Even then, the Lithuanians have held onto their pagan beliefs to this day; the fact that the Polish priests assigned to convert the newly allied Lithuanians to the Roman Catholic faith could not speak the native language went a long way to preserving the traditions of the people.

Pagans In Interfaith Dialogue
New Faiths, New Challenges
presented by Donald H. Frew
at the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions Hello and welcome. My name is Donald H. Frew. I am an Elder of the Covenant of the Goddess, the world’s largest religious organization for Neo-Pagan Witches, and I currently serve that organization as its National Public Information Officer. I have spent the last 8 years handling virtually all of CoG’s interfaith outreach. And in that capacity, I have served on the Board of Directors of the Berkeley Area Interfaith Council for last 7 years. Yesterday, Dr. J. Gordon Melton spoke on the challenges for "mainstream" religious groups encountering what he called New Religious Movements. He spoke from the point of view of a minister in one of those "mainstream" faiths looking out at all the New Religious Movements all over America. I am here, as a Neo-Pagan priest, to offer some observations from the other side of the dialogue. I will take questions at the end. First, a little bit of background...

    Was Hegel Christian or Atheist?
    Paul E. Trejo
After Hegel's death there was a great clash of intellectuals which the Hegelian theologian David Strauss called the clash between "the Left Hegelians and the Right Hegelians." The Left Hegelians were atheists, led by the ex-minister Bruno Bauer and his famous follower, Karl Marx, and by the radical editor Arnold Ruge and the radical egoist whose real name was not Max Stirner. The Right Hegelians were Christian fundamentalists. They found Christian inspiration in Hegel's philosophy, and they condemned David Strauss' progressive New Testament critique, The Life of Jesus . Strauss also took his inspiration from Hegel. He showed how the earliest Christian communities altered the Gospels with their local traditions. Albert Schweitzer praised his book as epoch-making, and by today's standards the book is tame. But it was the 19th century death-knell for Hegelian scholarship. Strauss defended himself by accusing Hegel himself of ambiguity on the subject. Bruno Bauer was living evidence of this. Bauer was first the leader of the Right Hegelians, and led the damnation of David Strauss' theology of demythologization. After more years of reflection, however, Bauer turned coat and became the leader of the Left Hegelians. (In either role, Albert Schweitzer praised Bauer's scholarship as world class.) Scholars for generations have reviewed the arguments of the Left and Right Hegelians, and are still divided on the question: Was Hegel a Christian or an atheist?

Eco Homes Land Ocupation Protest

This Easter people from around the country will be converging on the Pembrokeshire National Park in one of the most proactive bits of direct action for years. This time activists willnot be trying to stop something - they'll be fighting for their dreams of a countryside teeming with life, not just plant and animal life but human life too. With enough land for everyone not just the rich few. Historically people have been squeezed out of the countryside to work for factory owners in towns and cities. As a result most of us have lost the fundamental knowledge of life: how to grow food and how to live lightly on the land. What follows is a full briefing about the action and the reasons behind it. related link: http://www.thelandisours.org/
