http://www.blessedsacrament.com/theology/q154.html
question
Can "Old Catholics" receive communion in the Catholic Church?
Puzzled in Pasadena
answer
All Old Catholics fall under the provision of Canon 844, paragraph 3 which reads: Catholic ministers may licitly administer the sacraments of penance, Eucharist and anointing of the sick to members of the oriental churches which do not have full communion with the Catholic Church, if they ask on their own for the sacraments and are properly disposed. This holds also for members of other churches, which in the judgment of the Apostolic See are in the same condition as the oriental churches as far as these sacraments are concerned. Old Catholics belong to a church which retains the Apostolic succession, but are not in full communion with Rome. National Catholic Reporter
April 23, 1999 by Michael J. Farrell
In the tumult of today's changing church, there may be a cloudy mirror here in which we can see part of ourselves. In the city of Orange in Southern California in a nondescript mall where commerce is king, a church is scarcely typical. The Church of St. Matthew is less typical still. It is an Old Catholic church. Old Catholics have lurked at the edge of Christian life for more than a century. The name is so similar to what we call ourselves, it can be a source of confusion. Yet beyond the confusion, the story is intriguing. In the tumult of today's changing church, there may be a cloudy mirror here in which we can see part of ourselves. "One of the difficulties we've had is to properly identify ourselves," says Bishop Peter E. Hickman, sitting in the corner of St. Matthew. He is an open, eager man who uses words like schism unselfconsciously.

47. The Place Of The Old Catholics In The Work Of Unity
The Place of the old catholics in the Work of Unity By the Rev. Now the old catholics have done what Bossuet would not do they have gone behind Trent.

Project Canterbury The Place of the Old Catholics in the Work of Unity
By the Rev. C. B. Moss. The Christian East , Winter, 1928, pp. 167-170. THE Old Catholic churches are seven small autocephalous churches in communion with the ancient see of Utrecht, which was founded by St. Willibrord in 697, and was excommunicated by Rome early in the eighteenth century. Their separate position is the result of three movements in different periods and countries; the struggle between the See of Utrecht and the Jesuits; the revolt in Germany and other countries against the Vatican Council; later "Los von Rom" movements in South-Eastern Europe and in America. The Old Catholic movement has always received much sympathy both from Orthodox and from Anglican authorities. The Oecumenical Patriarch Joachim II. sent his last message to his Anglican friends not to forget the Old Catholics: and successive Lambeth Conferences, ever since 1878, have offered special privileges to Old Catholics deprived of the ministry of their own clergy. The Old Catholics, like the Orthodox churches, accept the Seven Councils and the Seven Sacraments, but not the Papal Supremacy or the "Filioque" clause. They resemble the Anglican churches in being modern and critical, and in certain points of discipline: e.g., the clergy of all orders are permitted to marry after ordination. It is natural that Utrecht should be regarded as a bridge between Constantinople and Canterbury, with each of which if. has points of contact. And yet this is not quite the real place of the Old Catholic churches in the work of unity.

Project Canterbury Visit to the Old Catholics of Bohemia by the Bishop of Salisbury
[John Wordsworth] Reprinted from Foreign Church Chronicle for December, 1889. London: Rivingtons, n.d. VISIT OF THE BISHOP OF SALISBURY TO THE OLD CATHOLICS OF BOHEMIA BEING in Bohemia, I could not omit to use the opportunity of visiting the Old Catholic congregations in the North, which were too distant for the Bishop of Lichfield and myself to reach two years ago, though they are decidedly the most important in the Austrian Empire. I went therefore from Marienbad to Warnsdorf, by Prague, on Saturday, September 12th, returning by way of Carlsbad on the Tuesday following. Our visit to Crefeld was made on the following Saturday and Sunday on our homeward route, as it lies between Cologne and Flushing. The cultus of the Blessed Virgin Mary again is not strongly prominent, and the influence of certain of the older monastic orders to some extent seems (to an outsider at least) to restrain that of the Jesuits. A convent of one of these orders, I may remark, the Premonstratensian Abbey of Tepel, is owner of the country about Marienbad, and administers the baths as well as supplying clergy to the churches and villages round-a state of things that seems to the English visitor to put him back almost into the middle ages. I arrived at Warnsdorf quite alone on Saturday night, and was welcomed by some of the principal members of the body, the rest being in committee, in preparation for the Synod which was to be held next day. My kind host, Herr Frohlich, head of the chief house in this place, the firm of Frohlich Sohn, which employs about 800 workmen, soon made me feel quite at home; and I was lodged in apartments in his beautiful house, which had been occupied by several distinguished guests on previous occasions. No English Churchman who can speak a little German and who has any breadth of sympathy need feel himself a stranger amongst the Old Catholics such as I have everywhere met them.

Just for the Record
Five years have passed since the traditional Catholic Community centered in Spokane, Washington at Mt. St. Michael (also known as the Religious Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen) underwent the terrible scandal caused by the personal immorality of Francis Schuckardt. The time that has elapsed since the fall of Schuckardt has afforded the opportunity for the Community to rectify a number of matters and to reorganize and reestablish itself. However, there are some among the various traditional Catholic groups who will forever attempt to discredit the Religious Community by repeatedly raising PAST issues. Perhaps now after five years, it is time to set matters straight once and for all. This article is NOT meant in any way to justify past mistakes, but to explain the past and to establish the present position and status of the Community.

51. History Of The United Catholic Church
In our churches you will find Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Protestants, and Orthodox, as well as old catholics – all receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion
http://www.rmbowman.com/catholic/Hist1h.htm
History of the United Catholic Church Introduction: The United Catholic Church is a free non-hierarchical fellowship of independent Catholic, Orthodox, and Apostolic churches who trace their individual histories back to the early church and to the apostles themselves. The history of our church then begins with the Book of Acts (with which I assume you are familiar). It continues through the undivided church of the first millennium, whose Catholic faith it upholds. It is at the time of the Great Schism of 1054 that the histories of our individual churches diverge from each other. Some of us are descended primarily from the Eastern or Orthodox branch of Christianity, others from the Western or Roman branch. Many of us represent a union of both branches. But all of us trace our Apostolic succession back to the Patriarchs of the undivided Church, and through them to apostolic times. th and 16 th centuries, and the emergence in the 19 th century of the Old Catholic Church and the Utrecht Union. We will see that most of our churches are descended from the Old Catholic Church, yet many of us also have recent bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox churches in our apostolic line. The independent Catholic movement can be viewed as a further fracturing of the Roman monolith. Yet in truth, it represents an attempt to bring back the pieces, laying the basis for true unity by discarding demands for uniformity.

We of the independent Catholic movement are Catholic Christians not under the jurisdiction of Rome. We are an outgrowth of the Old Catholic Church in Utrecht, Netherlands. We have not left the Church. Along with all Catholic Christians, we are the Church. Our clergy are validly ordained bishops, priests, and deacons in the Apostolic Succession, and are recognized as such. We are fully Catholic, and we pray for and look forward to the time when once more the unity Jesus prayed for exists. We await that unity (without uniformity) enjoyed by the early Church. Though incorporated as a church, we are not just a denomination; we are a post-denominational fellowship. Our churches practice the inclusivity of Jesus toward the outcast and marginalized including women, homosexuals, indigenous peoples, minorities, heretics, sinners, and the poor. We even accept rich folks. The United Catholic Church includes traditionalist parishes, progressive parishes, and everything in between. You can walk into one of our parishes and hear the Tridentine Mass in Latin, with the priest and congregation facing the altar and communicants receiving the Eucharist on the tongue. In another the Novus Ordo Mass will be indistinguishable from what you will experience in most Roman Catholic parishes. In still another you will find a woman priest and her congregation gathered around the altar at an intimate Mass rich in inclusive language. What binds us together is a rich orthodox Catholic faith, a dedication to follow Jesus in all things, a love of the Eucharist, a commitment to serve the lost and the outcast, and that unique spirituality we call "Catholic."

Old Catholics
Who we are
Old Catholics are a body of Christians committed to the Person of Jesus Christ and His teaching. We accept and believe the testimony of His Apostles, eyewitnesses of His Life, Death and Resurrection from among the dead. They passed on to succeeding generations their own testimony about Jesus and His life. By proclaiming of His Gospel and the giving of their own testimony (called the Apostolic Tradition), the Church which the Lord instituted was built up. Old Catholics are an historic part of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and have their origins in the Ancient Catholic Church of the Netherlands.
What is the ACU?
The ACU is a clericus ("kler-ee-koos"), an association of independent (Old) Catholic priests, organized as a California non-profit, tax-exempt religious corporation, with IRS 501(c)(3) status, for the purpose of furthering the work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are open to brotherly cooperation with other churches and associations with similar aims and dedication. We are also dedicated to providing our expertise in organization and computer technology to other Old and Independent Catholic jurisdictions who need and want them. By working together, we can make the ideal of "One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church" come true.

The Old Catholic movement is a collection of churches which have separated from the Church of Rome since the time of the Protestant Reformation. The Roman Catholic Church separated from the Orthodox Church in 1054 C.E. when the patriarch of Rome rejected the authority of the council of patriarchs (Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria and Rome) and the chair of the council, the Patriarch of Constantinople, and declared himself head of his own church, taking the title of Pope. (Note that the Roman Catholic Church is far from the oldest Christian church, as it so frequently claims. The Orthodox Church is a thousand years older, and the Roman church was part of the Orthodox church for over half of its history.) Since that time, the Pope has led the church into many divergent practices and errors, such as Papal Infallibility, celibacy for the priesthood, and the immaculate conception of Mary. The Old Catholics have sought to restore the church to its original beliefs and practices and correct the obvious errors of the Roman Catholic Church. Most Old Catholics are in communion with the Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands, headed by the archbishop of Utrecht, and with the Anglican (Episcopalian) and Orthodox Churches.
