Moving Mars This annotated bibliography list, a subset derived from the Adherents.com Religion in Literature database, is intended as a resource for literary research. It lists mainstream science fiction and fantasy novels, short stories and movies (speculative fiction) which contain references specifically to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to Mormonism in general. This list is certainly not comprehensive, but it does list all Hugo-, Nebula-, and Locus-winning novels with Latter-day Saint characters or references. This list does not include every reference to Latter-day Saints within each novel. Each novel or story is listed only once, with a brief explanation or sample quote. Many works include more than one reference, and in some, Latter-day Saints are a central element. (Titles in bold are those with the most extensive Latter-day Saint references.) Once again, this is a literary research resource; this list is NOT a source of information about the Church of Jesus Christ, nor is it a "recommended reading list" (Parkin has such a list

Welcome to my Mormon or LDS site. After four years of online discussions with non-LDS, I put my responses to them into book form in which I give my understanding of the basic teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and answer many criticisms of the Mormon Church. In addition, I've recently completed several days of intense (time wise) electronic discussions with critics of the Church, and I've posted those discussions in the Gospel Defense page to serve as an educational resource for Latter-day Saints who answer questions about the Mormon Church.. I've written a number of essays on various topics that relate to Mormonism. In addition to my writings, this site has quite a few pages of inspirational and fun things that I hope you'll enjoy. Thanks for stopping by! Even though this site concerns Mormonism, I speak for myself as an active Latter-day Saint, and I do not represent the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the LDS people. Last updated 11/19/01 Information on the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, and the Book of Mormon from an agnostic point of view What this page is about - Why study Mormonism? Sources of the Book of Mormon The Book of Mormon is one of the four standard works of the LDS church. According to official Mormon history, the book was translated, with Divine help, from a set of golden plates found by Joseph Smith, a New York farmboy who lived in the early part of the nineteenth century. The Book deals with the ancient history of the American continent, and proposes that the Native Americans are descendants of a small band of Jews, who left Palestine at about the same time that the Babylonians conquered Judah. While Mormon doctrine holds that the Book is a real translation of an unknown language, a close examination of the text itself reveals otherwise. It is evident that Joseph Smith was inspired by a number of contemporary sources, which, together with his own fertile imagination, resulted in the Book of Mormon. WELCOME
Welcome to the Mormon Handcart Companies website. We invite you to read the stories compiled by the Riverton Wyoming Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saintsand learn more about the pioneers, their rescuers and most importantly their faith in a loving Father in Heaven. These are their stories and the stories of their rescuers, both past and present.
"Brethren and sisters you have a great inheritance. We have a tremendous responsibility to live up to it. God bless us to be faithful, to be true to that which meant so much to those who died here and their associates who died along this long and wearisome trail." - President Gordon B. Hinckley, Rock Creek Hollow Dedication, July 23, 1994.
" We are learning in the Church, that there is a craving among our people for pioneer history. I think maybe we have neglected that phase just a little bit in years past. Now there is that overwhelming desire to learn more of those who gave everything they had for the promulgation of the gospel and that dream of coming to Zion. No one can record here on earth all the sacrifices. There are too many." - President Thomas S. Monson, Riverton Stake Meeting, June 15, 1997

Home Immigrants Resources About
uring the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , converts from the British Isles played a crucial role, providing much-needed strength and leadership to the fledgling church. Among these, the Welsh were prominent, with influential figures such as Dan Jones and others making significant contributions to the growth of the work. The Church had great missionary success in Wales during the 1840's and 1850's, and many thousands of Welsh converts immigrated to America, heading West with Brigham Young as a part of the great Mormon Migration, which began in 1847. Today it is estimated that approximately twenty percent of the population of Utah is of Welsh descent. As the message of the restoration spread throughout Wales, many saints eagerly asked, "Pa bryd y cawn fyned i Seion?", which means "When may we go to Zion?" The new converts sought to follow the counsel of their leaders to leave "Babylon" (Wales) and go to "Zion" (Utah).
Early Mormon converts
The saints' arduous trek westward This site seeks to preserve and share information about the early converts to Mormonism in Wales. Its main focus is on those individuals who were involved in the Mormon movement in 19th-century Wales. The individuals featured in this site are generally those who were born in Wales and came to America after converting to the Church.

76. The Dark Side Of Salt Lake City
Compares the mormons and polygamy to the taliban.
http://www.thedarksideofsaltlakecity.org
Webster’s: Polygamy 1. the state or practice of having two or more wives or husbands at the same time; plural marriage. Polyandry 1. a woman with more than one husband. The Mormons hide the dark side of Salt  Lake City from the world. This is the Mormon way. Polygamy is a practice that makes slaves of young girls who are married off to older men and there is no help for them from the LDS church.. Neither Joseph Smith nor Brigham Young cared about the long term effects this practice of polygamy would have on helpless girls and women. Tom Green, Mormon Taliban
Salt Lake City, that clean and modern community you saw before you on the television, or in person, when you watched the 2002 Olympic winter games, has another face. The government of the state of Utah went all out to show this city in its best possible aspect. But there is a dark side to Salt Lake City, a very dark side indeed. Mere children are institutionally raped and enslaved, both mentally and physically, by their patriarchal masters. As is evidenced in the case of Tom Green, the institution is one of long-standing in this state; I, of course, mean polygamy. Elizabeth Smart is now the latest victim of this tolerance. Though the outside world may have the impression that this is a quaint artifact of the early pioneer days, which springs up spontaneously here and there, nothing could be further from the daily reality its victims endure their entire lives. The reprehensible acts of pedophiles posing as "priests" in the Catholic Church pale when compared to what these children, then women, endure. Young men accosted by pedophile "priests" can eventually leave the situation. These girls become pregnant and are condemned to live in servitude. Their tormentor becomes the father of their children, they have no choice but to accept their fate and pass it along to their offspring!

Bible and Book of Mormon Contradictions By Sandra Tanner
  • The Bible plainly states that the gospel, with its inclusion of Gentiles, was not fully revealed until after Christ's death. Eph. 3:3-7 Paul writes "by revelation he made known unto me the mystery ; (as I wrote afore in few words, whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: whereof I was made a minister ...... (See also Col. 1:26; 1 Peter 1: 1-12; Romans 16:25-26) However, the Book of Mormon maintains that this knowledge was had in 545 B.C. 2 Nephi 25:19 "For according to the words of the prophets, the Messiah cometh... his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God. ... (v.23) For we labor... to persuade... our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. 2 Nephi 26:12 "And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus in the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God;"
