About this page

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is America's largest polygamous group. It is a sect of Mormonism , which itself is a cult of Christianity . Members consider themselves to be the only true Mormons. Mormonism of any variety is incompatible with orthodox , biblical Christianity
The FLDS is currently headed by 'prophet' Warren Jeffs
Jenny Larson has been a skeptic since she was a child living in a polygamous, fundamentalist Mormon community. "The prophet when I was growing up was a big, fat pig," she asserts. Now 59, she's out of the sect and known for helping other women leave. Larson's enemies tell her she'll wind up in hell. Those she's rescued think otherwise. "They say Aunt Jenny is an agent of the devil," says Dusty Lato, one of many who sought her assistance over the years. "But to me she was a godsend."
The sect, officially called the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, separated from the

Latter Day Saint
A Latter Day Saint (LDS) is a person who identifies with the Latter Day Saint movement , or who practices Mormonism . Latter Day Saints trace their religious heritage through Joseph Smith, Jr, who claimed to have restored the original " Church of Christ ", which had disappeared from the earth after a period of apostasy . Latter Day Saints consider themselves to be " saints " in the original sense of the word, meaning members of the original Christian church established in the First Century , AD. The term Latter Day Saint has a different meaning than the younger and more specific term Latter-day Saint (spelled British-style with a hyphen and a lower-case d ). The latter term refers specifically to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , which is by far the largest Latter Day Saint organization. Sometimes, Latter Day Saints are referred to as Mormons , a term that began as a nickname in reference to the Book of Mormon ; however, some Latter Day Saint sects consider the word Mormon to apply only to Latter-day Saints.

There are lesser offices in the RLDS Church such as Bishops, Elders, etc. Unique Terms: An RLDS Fundamentalist or Restorationist is one who believes the Book of Mormon is historically and theologically accurate. They also believe the RLDS Church, as defined by Joseph Smith III, is the only true church. Other Names: The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is often referred to by the abbreviation RLDS. Also, in the 1970's, an official nickname, Saints' Church was designated. In addition, in most areas outside the English-speaking world, the RLDS Church is known as the Restored Church of Jesus Christ (

Darillyn Starr is a 25 year member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.] In Moroni 8:8 , in the Book of Mormon , Christ, following his death and resurrection, is speaking to the peoples of the western hemisphere, known as the Nephites and Lamanites. "Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord, and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me." Welcome to the Merthyr Tydfil Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This Web site has been organised to give you up-to-date information about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its members in this area. The town of Merthyr Tydfil is steeped in history with the famous Cyfarthfa Castle and the beauty of the Brecon Beacons in close proximity. The Merthyr Ward maintains a strong congregation with some 300 members attending each Sunday. The church building in Georgetown was built in 1963 by the local members and was dedicated by the Prophet, President David O. McKay. David O. McKay's mother lived in this house at the top of Swansea Road. The Thurso Branch of the Church has information on David O McKay's FATHER'S house, just visit http://homepages.msn.com/SpiritSt/c_tolworthy/thurso/janets.htm The contact there is Chris Tolworthy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a long history in the Merthyr area. In the 1850s there were approximately three thousand members in the area. Many of these emigrated to Salt Lake City where they continued their Welsh heritage. Certainly many members of the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir trace their ancestry to Wales.

OF LATTER DAY SAINTS
(MORMON)
The most successful of the many groups which have been labeled "cult", the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has over two million members and dominates the religious life of the Rocky Mountain area from Boise, Idaho, to Phoenix, Arizona. Started in the early ninetenth century, it has grown steadily into a worldwide ecclesiastical body.
FOUNDER AND EARLY HISTORY: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, popularly called the Mormons, was founded by Joseph Smith, Jr. (born December 23, 1805 in Sharon, Vermont). As a youth, Smith had moved from Vermont to western New York, near the town of Palmyra. Western New York was, during the early ninetenth century, one of the places in which the various protestant churches fought vigorously over the allegiance of a largely unchurched population. Some of Smith's family joined the Presbyterians, but young Joe was partial to Methodism. Undecided as to which group to join, Smith's problem was solved by a vision he had in 1820. God the Father and Jesus appeared to him and told him to join no church as they were all wrong. This vision was the first of a series that would lead to the founding of a new Church. In 1823 he was visited by the Angel Moroni who told him of some plates buried nearby upon which was written an account of the ancient inhabitants of North America. Buried with the plates were two stones with which Smith could translate the plates. Smith was informed of the exact location of the plates in 1827 and began the task of translating them. The translation was published in 1830 as the Book of Mormon (hence the popular designation of Smith's followers).
