uring the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , converts from the British Isles played a crucial role, providing much-needed strength and leadership to the fledgling church. Among these, the Welsh were prominent, with influential figures such as Dan Jones and others making significant contributions to the growth of the work. The Church had great missionary success in Wales during the 1840's and 1850's, and many thousands of Welsh converts immigrated to America, heading West with Brigham Young as a part of the great Mormon Migration, which began in 1847. Today it is estimated that approximately twenty percent of the population of Utah is of Welsh descent. As the message of the restoration spread throughout Wales, many saints eagerly asked, "Pa bryd y cawn fyned i Seion?", which means "When may we go to Zion?" The new converts sought to follow the counsel of their leaders to leave "Babylon" (Wales) and go to "Zion" (Utah).
Early Mormon converts
The saints' arduous trek westward This site seeks to preserve and share information about the early converts to Mormonism in Wales. Its main focus is on those individuals who were involved in the Mormon movement in 19th-century Wales. The individuals featured in this site are generally those who were born in Wales and came to America after converting to the Church.

The Book of Mormon
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
The Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Book of Mormon, the fullness of the everlasting gospel. We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and the to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3-5.)

Latter-day Saints under-appreciate priesthood restoration
By Jacob Conde NewsNet Senior Reporter - 20 May 2004

Pres. Hinckley speaks May 16 during the 175th Priesthood fireside. On Sunday, President Hinckley spoke about the restoration of the priesthood. The 175th anniversary of the restoration of the priesthood is an important event in the history of the church. However, it is also an event many Latter-day Saints do not fully appreciate, Elder Dale Miller said. "I think the members have become so accustomed," Elder Miller said. "I think we kind of understate the rather remarkable and marvelous event that it was." Elder Miller, executive director of the priesthood department, said the magnitude of the event is particularly misunderstood. Without the priesthood authority on the earth, all ordinances relating to salvation and exaltation cannot be performed. He also said the priesthood of God is one of the "four cornerstones of the restoration," as described by the First Presidency. The other cornerstones include the First Vision, the appearance of Moroni with the golden plates and the organization of the church on April 6, 1830.

115. Elijah
The Jewish prophet's role in the Church of latterday saints.
http://www.lightplanet.com/mormons/basic/bible/people/elijah_eom.htm
Elijah
LDS Sources by Franklin D. Day During a divine manifestation to the youthful Joseph Smith on the evening of September 21, 1823, the angel Moroni quoted Malachi 4:5-6, a prophecy that concerns Elijah's activities in the latter days. Moroni's rendering, which differs from the current biblical text, outlines and clarifies Elijah's prophesied role: Malachi's prophecy anticipates that Elijah would play an important role "before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord" (Mal. 4:5). Elijah was endowed with the priesthood power of God. With this power, he declared to King Ahab that no rain would fall upon the land (1 Kgs. 17:1). Accordingly, the heavens were sealed and ancient Israel experienced a disastrous drought for three and a half years. When Elijah was carried up into heaven in a fiery chariot, his earthly mission appeared to have ended. But the sealing power that he exercised marked only the beginning of his responsibility regarding this eternal priesthood power. On April 3, 1836, in a vision to Joseph Smith and

116. Sharing Your Faith With Latter-day Saints
Sharing Your Faith with latterday saints. By Sandra Tanner. One ofthe most important factors in sharing your faith with a Mormon
http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/sharingyourfaithwithlds.htm
Sharing Your Faith with Latter-day Saints By Sandra Tanner One of the most important factors in sharing your faith with a Mormon (officially known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is your sincere friendship. Usually former LDS tell me that they had a close friend that talked to them about the Lord. This friend acted as a bridge between Mormon assumptions and explaining what the Bible actually says. Usually Mormons will already view themselves as Christians and will accept you as one as well. However, they would see you as only having one fourth of the gospel while they have the whole package. Your faith in Christ, according to them, assures you of a place in heaven. However, in order to go to the highest part of heaven, the Celestial Kingdom (godhood, exaltation), you would need to have a Mormon baptism and a Mormon temple marriage. (See Mormons Hope to Become Gods of Their Own Worlds .) They believe that if you don't join the LDS Church during this life you will be given a chance to accept it during the millennium. Remember that they view you as the one with the defective belief system. You have only the Bible (which accounts for your "limited" understanding) while they have additional light from their other scriptures, the

W e are pleased you are visiting our web site! It is a joy to share with you the pure love of Jesus Christ, and the peace offered through knowing and loving Him. As you explore these pages, we trust that God's Holy Spirit will touch you. We pray you will be blessed with hope and your faith will be strengthened. Loving God means drawing close to Him. We believe it is part of God's plan for us to do this - through prayer, study, worship, fellowship, and service to others. The Lord beckons us to express our faith in Him through our continued repentance and a daily walk. Centering our lives on Jesus Christ each day helps us to stay focused, and offers rich blessings as we put Him first in our lives. We strive to begin our day with Praise and Worship, honoring our Father in Heaven for His Holiness, His Wisdom, His Grace, and His Love. "For the grace of God which bringeth salvation to all men, hath appeared; teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
Titus 2:11-14 Whether you are visiting us online for the first time to get to know more about our faith, have become our friends in Christ, or you are a member of the church, we invite you to progress with us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
