Who is NeferuHethert?
The Kemetic people were said by the Greek historian Herodotus to have been the most religious people in the world. They did not even have a special word for "religion," because for them it was an intrinsic part of their lives, not something to be done a couple of times a year or even just once a week. Homes had shrines in a place of honor, and prayers and offerings were left there on a daily basis. Ancestral busts or stelae were set up in niches in the walls, where prayers and offerings were also given to deceased relatives who watched over their descendants with love. Community festivals honored the Appearance of God, when the temple icon was taken in procession, and visits were often made to cemeteries to honor the blessed dead. Kemetic society based itself on Ma'at, which is both a concept and a deity. It is the fundamental order of the universe, what is right and just, and what is in balance. As a deity, Ma'at is personified as a woman with a feather on Her head. In Kemetic society, the King was the link between heaven and earth, between Netjer and the people. The King was the Living Heru, one of the Names of Netjer, and He (or She) was entrusted with governing the country in Ma'at and serving according to Netjer's will. One of the most important rituals in the temples was the offering of Ma'at by the King to Netjer, with the symbol encompassing the reality of the idea. As long as the country was ruled in Ma'at, the forces of destruction were kept at bay. It was the King's duty to insure that Ma'at prevailed, guaranteeing the continuation of Kemet and the world.

if you wish I find myself reading this page I placed on the web a year ago. A lot has changed since then, and so I felt a need to update. Much has happened in that brief space, and I decided to fix this up to match the errors that are different. If you find any errors or misinformation (or just bad HTML, heh, I'm so new at this) please drop me an email . You will note that my email 'handle', "seshet" bears a striking resemblance to Seshat, the name of a goddess. Am I using a divine moniker? Ah, not in the least! For an interesting, but true story, check out this page if for some reason you are curious as to why. As I am in the process of converting old information into new, some information remains outdated and incomplete for now, but will be updated as the week goes on bit by bit. Introduction
Seshat is an aspect of God from Ancient Egypt. The Ancient Egyptian religion is very often mistaken as a poly or henotheistic faith, when in actuality it resembles a monolatry; that is, a religion where there is one divinity that has parts to it which, while having their own personality, remain a component of a whole. A car has four wheels, but the car itself is not a wheel, yet the wheels are as much a vital part to the car and the car's function. Each of the aspects is separate, but unlike polytheistic beliefs, each remains a part of the whole. The word for divinity that they used to represent the sum of all the Names (Gods) is
