What Is Messianic Judaism?
Messianic Judaism is a biblically based movement of Jewish people who have come to believe in Yeshua as the promised Messiah of Israel. Yeshua is the Hebrew name for Jesus. Yeshua means Salvation. Today, there are tens of thousands of Messianic Jews in the United States alone. Some have estimated the number to be as high as 100,000. Messianic Synagogues are springing up in almost every major city across the country.
Other nations, such as Canada, England, France, Israel, Australia and South Africa are experiencing a growing movement of Messianic Jews as well.

Is it Jewish to Believe in Jesus? To some, the concept of a Jewish person believing in Yeshua seems to be a contradiction. On the one hand, you have Jews and Judaism and on the other hand, Christians and Christianity. You are either one or the other. If we go back 2000 years, we find that Yeshua ws a Jew living in a Jewish land among Jewish people. All the apostles were Jewish as well as the writers of the New Covenant and for many years this faith in Yeshua was strictly a Jewish one. From the Book of Acts and other historical evidence, many believe that in the first-century there were literally hundreds of thousands of Messianic Jews. In addition, there were Messianic synagogues scattered throughout the Roman Empire and beyond. There first-century Messianic Jews remained highly loyal to their people.

What is Messianic Judaism?
The rebirth of modern Israel has been paralleled by a revival of interest in spirituality among Jewry worldwide. Amidst this search for meaning and truth, Jewish people have once again examined the Hebrew Scriptures, the most ancient and central document in Jewish faith. Many have compared the teachings of the Torah and the Prophets with the claims of the New Testament. A great number of these people have come to embrace the belief that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel and that the New Testament is, after all, a Jewish book ... about a Jewish Messiah. While Messianic Judaism is new in some respects, it is also ancient. It stands on a foundation going back to biblical times. In the first century CE, there were several different sects within Judaism Pharisees, Saduccees and Herodians to name a few. These different Jewish groups were unquestionably part of the larger Jewish community. A great number of Judeans comprised one of these groups the Nazarenes. These were followers of the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, and the forerunners of today's Messianic Judaism. The rise of the current Messianic Jewish movement began simultaneously with the rise of the Zionist movement in the early 1900s. Study groups and fellowships began to sprout throughout the United States and in different parts of the world. The explosive growth that solidified the Messianic movement, however, took place in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today there are over 200 Messianic Synagogues in the United States and approximately 50 in Israel. The movement's rapid growth continues, with new congregations being started in the former Soviet Union, Latin America, and in key cities around the world.

The name Jew was derived from the forth tribe of Israel, "Judah," meaning in Hebrew "Praiser of G-d." So firstly a Jew is a Praiser of G-d. Most people are under the misconception that being Jewish refers to being a member of a religious institution or that it is a birthright.

Messianic Judaism as a proper name refers to a group of various religious movements, self-identified as Jewish , but being predominantly evangelical Christian in beliefs. Typical of the movement are the Jews for Jesus , whose aim is to educate Evangelicals concerning the Jewish origins of their Christian faith, and to convert Jews to mainstream evangelical christianity. Even though many Messianic Jews are ethnically Jewish, they are not considered part of the Jewish community by any mainstream Judaic nor any other Jewish religious groups. This is colloquial terminology, as many, diverse religious groups have messianic beliefs which are not compatible with what has come to be commonly referred to as Messianic Judaism. Most notably, Rabbinic Judaism, including all the modern Jewish denominations , have a variety of beliefs about a future messianic era. Some Jewish groups whose beliefs stress the messianic aspects are known in the literature as "messianic Jews", but that is not the topic of this article. Ari and Sarah Crockett have started a Messianic Jewish congregation at the Rockwood Grange.
The Crocketts set up congregation for Messianic Jews
When Ari Crockett and his wife, Sarah, gathered with other followers of the Messianic Jewish religion this week it was not as part of an established synagogue but as leaders of a brand-new congregation.
The young Gresham couple now hopes to attract many others to their new congregation, which meets each Friday evening at the Rockwood Grange and emphasizes the Messianic Jewish tradition of worship, fellowship and community involvement.
This is not to say that the new congregation will be made up of only young people. In fact, the Crocketts want to attract both Jews and gentiles who are looking for a way to live a life based on the teachings of Yeshua, or Jesus as he is known to Christians.
Unlike traditional Judaism, Messianic Judaism believes Yeshua was the son of God, that he died for the sins of human beings and that he will make a second coming to the Earth, this time as ruler of Israel and ruler of the world. The religion celebrates Jewish culture, Jewish holidays and supports Israel but accepts both Jews and gentiles into the congregation.

With the Jews for Jesus gathering like a dark cloud of locusts, it is no wonder that Jews across the county flipped out when The Post used a picture of a Messianic congregation celebrating "Tashlich," the ceremony of casting one's sins upon the waters. Nor were they much comforted by the column that acknowledged the use of the picture as a mistake for a Rosh Hashana story. It was more than a mistake; it missed the point. It was not a picture about Jews celebrating Judaism. It was a picture of Christians playing at being Jews. While that is a harsh assessment of both the use of the picture and the group, it is important, as the Navajos used to say, to "walk a mile in another's moccasins" to understand. Let us begin locally. Jews for Jesus is coming to town Dec. 8-22, with two stated purposes. One is to convert as many Jews to Christianity as possible. The other is more interesting to tell Christian pastors and church leaders that if they are not part of the solution the bringing of Jews to the Christian Messiah then they are part of the problem. This ratchets up the aggressiveness of an already aggressive group that has no compunction about chasing Jews in crowds the way sheepdogs cut sheep from a flock. The shame of it is that over the past several years, there has been significant tension in this county between Jews and evangelical Christians, which is what Jews for Jesus, Chosen People's Ministry and other messianic Jewish groups really are. We had the infamous pre-Passover mailing of the so-called Jesus tapes, a 1980s film telling the story of the Passion.

Historical Implication of the Messianic Jews Looking in various aspects to provoke your thought The Origin of Messianic Jews
The first body of Yeshua believers were Jews. Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) was a Jew. Peter, Paul, Nicodemos, Matthew, John the Baptist and even Maria were Jews. People who came to cerebrate the birth of Yeshua were either Jews or gentiles who knew the Torah and the books of prophets who foretold the Messiah's advent. The concept of Messiah did already existed in the Old Testaments and in the traditional Jewish life style. For this obvious reason, the very first "church" consisted of Jewish believers who follows the commandments and Jewish tradition. Indeed the majority of the secular Jews refused Yeshua at that time, but still the majority of the Yeshua's believers were Jews. So, they were Messianic Jews!! Yeshua did not come of the basis of denial of the Old Testaments by any means. It is traditionally taught in some Christian churches that Apostle Paul insisted abolishing the law in the New Testament. That is not correct. The law was fulfilled and completed according to the statement of Yeshua in Matthew 5:17-20. If Yeshua abolished the Law, he did not even have to die for us as a sacrificed lamb. So, the Messianic Jew has followed Yeshua Jesus and follow the Law; that was the way the Messianic Jews has been since that time. The transitional change from the original Messianic Jews to the "Christian Church" occurred in the following steps:

    Messianic Judaism
From Wikipedia , the free encyclopedia.
Messianic Judaism is the name of a religious movement, comprising a number of streams, each with its own views and emphases, whose members may identify themselves as Jewish or as Gentile. They are predominantly evangelical Christian in their beliefs, in particular in their endorsement of Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus ), as the Messiah promised in the Tanakh (known to Christians as the Old Testament ). Most such believers do not consider themselves "Christians,"preferring to call themselves Messianic, Torah-Observant, or simply believers. Perhaps the best known of the Messianic groups, although certainly not the largest, is the controversial Jews for Jesus organization, founded by Moishe Rosen in . Its stated aims are to educate Evangelicals concerning the Jewish origins of their Christian faith, and to convert Jews to a belief in Yeshua , as the Messiah promised in the Jewish scriptures. Most Messianic Jews are ethnically Jewish, and though such are considered Jews even by ultra-orthodox standards, Messianic Judaism is not seen as a legitimate form of Judaism by any recognized Jewish organization or leaders, apart from a small number of dissenting voices among the Reform and Reconstructionist schools. The use of the term "Messianic" is not new. Diverse religious groups have
