BAPTIST CHURCH LEAVES GENERAL
ASSOCIATION OF REGULAR BAPTIST CHURCHES
Middletown Road Baptist Church [Pittsburgh-Jeff Kistler, pastor] voted Jan. 26 to withdraw from the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. A resolution which passed unanimously stated: "This action is taken after years of study, discussion, and prayer. It is our observation that this fellowship of churches no longer stands Biblically and doctrinally, on the historic
principles on which it was originally established. Noticeably weak and almost nonexistent is the organization's position and practice of Biblical separation. Likewise, we have seen the Association minimize the Biblical importance and primacy that the Lord has placed upon the ministry and mission of the local church. We take this action with great sadness and deep regret. However we must, for as a church we are determined and committed to maintain the Biblical stand that was once
very evident in the GARBC but is currently lacking. We will currently maintain our fellowship with the PARBC and with the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of W. Pennsylvania with due vigilance."
CORNERSTONE SPEAKERS INCLUDE ED DOBSON Cornerstone University, still a General Association of Regular Baptist Churches - approved school, has the following speakers for its Bible conference Feb. 21-25: Drs. Ed Dobson, Dick Gregory (IFCA), Charles Ware, and Bill Rudd. Ware platform-shares with ecumenicals (see 2/15/98 CC). Rudd served on the GARBC's Council of 18. Busloads of men from his church attended a Promise Keepers rally (see 8/1/96 CC). Dobson's

Welcome to the Atlanta Bible Baptist Church Sunday Service Fellowship. It is our prayer and desire, by God's grace, to provide doctrinally sound, Biblical exposition during our Sunday Morning worship service for the edifying of the saints and strengthening of the church body. We want to invite you to share in our worship through this broadcast of our morning sermon. The Bible tells us that Christians should "not (forsake) the assembling of ourselves together"(Heb 10:25). We realize that nothing can or should replace the gathering of Christians together personally to worship the LORD and to study His Word. However, if you are unable to attend a local church service this Sunday, we invite you to listen in to our Sunday sermon and we pray that the preached Word will edify your heart and draw you closer to our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Atlanta Bible Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church that was founded in 1964 by Dr. and Mrs. John McNeal Jr. ABBC has always had a burden for winning souls and is an ardent supporter of home and foreign missions. Baptist History
Baptist Beginnings
It was in Seventeenth Century England that Baptists began using that term for self-identification. They began as part of the Separatists in England, but didn't think the Separatists went far enough in distancing themselves from the teachings and practices of the Church of England and in following the teachings of the Bible. Baptists primarily differed from the Separatists on the issue of baptism. Baptists reserved the rite for confessed believers. These Baptists began forming associations of like-minded churches, giving rise to the first Baptist denominations. There was a great deal of diversity of opinion among baptists including on the issues of predestination (Particular Baptists) versus free will (General Baptists). Famous English Baptists include John Smythe, Thomas Helwys, John Bunyan (although he went back and forth between Baptist and Congregationalist), and Charles Spurgeon.
Baptists in the United States
Roger Williams, who founded Providence, Rhode Island as a "shelter for persons distressed in conscience," also founded the First Baptist Church of America in Providence in 1639 (This although Roger Williams was a Baptist for a very short period of his life). In most of the original colonies, Baptists were outcasts, rejected because they did not follow the established religions of the colonies. Baptists began forming associations for the sake of evangelism in the 18th century. The Philadelphia Baptist Association was formed in 1707 and the Charleston Baptist Association formed in 1751. Baptists grew in numbers especially during the Great Awakening of the last half of the 18th century. By the time of the revolution, Baptists were poised to make a mark on the newly forming federal government and its constitution. Two outspoken Baptist pastors are noteworthy for their advocacy of the religious freedom and their promotion of the First Amendment, John Leland and Isaac Backus.

Pastor V. James Ruse "Lord, I have loved the habitation of thine house, and the place where thy honor dwelleth.”
Psalm 26:8 Who we are
The Hamilton Baptist Church is an Independent, fundamental, Bible believing church, believing that a Biblical church consists of believers meeting together for worship, prayer, teaching, fellowship, the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper, and for the carrying out of the Great Commission. This local body of believers organized and incorporated in 1963. Thereafter, they met in members' homes until property was purchased and a basement structure completed. In 1977, the upper story was finished. 1990 marked the church's official recognition as a duly organized New Testament Baptist church. A short time later, the church joined in fellowship with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches ( GARBC Hamilton Baptist in accordance with its commitment to missions has supported missionaries since 1976. It conducts an annual missions conference with a faith promise emphasis. Our ministry is a family oriented one with children, teens, and adults finding closeness and fellowship in an accepting atmosphere. The church's ministry and programs are supported by the free-will offerings of God's people. As a church body, we are strongly committed to sound Biblical teaching and preaching, believing it is God's Word and the ministry of His Holy Spirit which produces change in the hearts of men, bringing sinners to salvation and believers to spiritual maturity.
