"Dios ama al que da con alegría"

"Apoya a tu Iglesia"

  • Our mission at Calvary Episcopal Church is to welcome and to serve all those we meet at our special corner of the world in the name of Jesus Christ. Because of our location in the heart of the Mayo Clinic, in a city with a mobile population, and in the downtown of Rochester, we have many opportunities to minister to the sick, the friendless and the needy.
Whether we meet a visitor, a member of our parish family, or a member of our own family, we need to greet the Christ in each person with openness, acceptance, hospitality and respect.
Our church sanctuary is open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm for prayer, rest and reflection.

Dear Friends of Holy Spirit Dear Friends of Holy Spirit,
This letter brings the sad news that Holy Spirit Episcopal Church is closing.
This is a painful time for all of us at Holy Spirit. But even as we deal with the news of the Bishop’s decision, and as we prepare for our own closure, we wanted to make very sure that you, our friends and family around the country, heard the news directly from us.
The Holy Spirit community will continue to come together to worship and to celebrate the Holy Eucharist each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Waters Landing School through the month of January. Losing our church and our worship community is painful: we will use these weeks to grieve and acknowledge the pain, and then to prepare to move on without our beloved spiritual home. A central part of this process will be celebrating the life of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. We will be using the coffee hour to recall and celebrate events in the life of Holy Spirit, sharing what this worship community and our experience in it has meant to us. We invite all our friends to join us in this celebration, either in person or by mail. Please bring or send your memories and your photos, so we can all celebrate and remember together.
The final service of Holy Spirit is scheduled for Sunday, February 1st. Coming full circle, the Mission Committee has invited the Rev. George Timberlake. our first and founding vicar, to return for this last service. The Right Rev. John Bryson Chane, Bishop of Washington, will celebrate, and many other friends will participate. It is the hope of all of us at Holy Spirit that past members and all of our friends from around the Diocese will be able to join us for this final service, which will be held at Waters Landing Elementary School, at the corner of Locbury and Waters Landing Drive. at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments and fellowship will follow. Please consider this your invitation.

As Christians, we are constantly confronted by the chasm that lies between our aspirations and our limitations. We aspire to be Christ-like while living in a world that rewards selfishness. We seek harmony in an age that encourages discord. We strive to look at life through the lens of Spirit, but the scratches imposed by human nature distort our vision. As Christians, our ability to emulate our Savior and to do God's will is hampered by our finite understanding, and by the other limitations of human nature. We are distracted mightily by those limitations. Our human minds and hearts are easily sidetracked, and we must constantly remind ourselves of our spiritual purpose. We are only human, and it is an ongoing challenge for us to take the Christian path.
