FIRST ADVANCED COURSE IN operator theory AND COMPLEX ANALYSIS. Seville, June 16th19th 2004. Complex Analysis and operator theory

FIRST ADVANCED COURSE IN OPERATOR THEORY AND COMPLEX ANALYSIS Seville, June 16th-19th 2004 Complex Analysis and Operator Theory are two of the most classical and beautiful branches of mathematics. In many more situations that one can expect at first glance, these two branches interact providing very important and beautiful theorems in which older results are invested of  new meanings.  A major example of what is just said is the large study of composition operators on spaces of analytic functions that has been carried out in the last forty years. The connection with other branches of mathematics like, approximation theory, Fourier analysis and Harmonic Analysis frequently appear. Although classical, it is a remarkable fact that Complex Analysis and Operator Theory are providing an unending number of rich and new ideas in mathematics. One of the purposes of these advanced courses delivered by well renowned researchers which are in the mainstream is to show that these two areas are still emerging with full strength.  The topics will vary from determining the conformal type of Riemann surfaces, to concrete classical operators acting on classical spaces of analytic functions, passing through how the behaviour of the powers of the classical shift operator determines whether every function in a given space of analytic functions on the disk has non-tangential limits almost everywhere and lattices of

Rien Kaashoek Sebastiano Seatzu , and Cornelis Van der Mee The International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications (IWOTA) has met biannually since 1981 and more frequently in recent years (starting in 1995) rotating among eight countries on three continents (see history ).The IWOTA conferences offer a rich program on a wide range of the latest developments in operator theory and its applications. The original concept of the workshop was as a satellite conference for operator theorists to the broader based international symposia on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems (MTNS). While this concept is still in place, the scope of IWOTA has broadened considerably in recent years and has now attained an independent identity as a major world-wide conference for recent developments in core operator theory and its applications. List of Research Topics Operator and function theory, system and control theory, differential and integral equations, linear algebra, mathematical physics.

Programme leaders: M.A. Kaashoek, S.M. Verduyn Lunel
This project deals with operator theory problems arising from concrete classes of integral and differential equations. Both linear and non-linear equations are studied, and the problems may have a finite dimensional or infinite dimensional character. Typical for the project is a strong interaction with complex function theory; operators are studied in terms of analytic functions (symbols, characteristic matrices, determinant functions). The study of non-stationary versions of normed constrained interpolation problems of Nevanlinna-Pick and Sarason type, the development of a qualitative theory of infinite dimensional dynamical systems, the analysis of the asymptotic behaviour of deterministic and non-deterministic systems, and the study of imaginary powers of unbounded operators are some of the main themes.

    Description
In the past two decades, wavelets and frames have emerged as significant tools in mathematics and technology. They interact with harmonic analysis, operator theory, and a host of other applications. This book grew out of a special session on Wavelets, Frames and Operator Theory held at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore and a National Science Foundation-sponsored workshop held at the University of Maryland. Both events were associated with the NSF Focused Research Group. The volume includes both theoretical and applied papers highlighting the many facets of these interconnected topics. It is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in wavelets and their applications.
