President The Superintendent of Documents classification system was developed in the Library of the Government Printing Office between 1895 and 1903. It was first described in October 1903 by William Leander Post, then in charge of the Library, in the preface to List of Publications of the Agriculture Department 1862-1902, Department List No. 1, issued by the Superintendent of Documents in 1904. Mr. Post gives credit for the foundation of the system (classification by governmental author) to Miss Adelaide R. If not, it selects the project with the largest expected memory use which is smaller than the one given in the request, and hands out the first range for this project. The idea behind this is that the maximum memory requirement is configured on each client machine, so an account with multiple machines will get the "largest" assignments available for each machine. The size of the range given out is decided by the time it took that machine to return the results the last couple of times, and currently aims at a range that takes one day to finish.
