"Offshore" sail numbers may be required in any race that is not a one-design race. Numbers are assigned from blocks on a geographic area basis of US SAILING, the Canadian Yachting Association and, through delegation of authority, the following listed association. In instances of ambiguity, first contact the nearest local authority. The owner of a yacht which permanently transfers from one are to another shall not notify both authorities; the original number, however, shall be retained. The number assigned to an offshore yacht shall be unique, and no other yacht shall bear that number. Click here to obtain US SAILING's Sail Number Application.

Saké Mail is a Java servlet system that uses the Saké framework , which is a mature and robust architecture intended for enterprise-level server-side applications. It was designed to be the fastest and most highly scalable web-based email package that you can buy, and Saké Mail is even more flexible, customizable and configurable than MailMan Saké Mail runs under an application server or plugs in to your web server using a servlet container like the free Jakarta Tomcat or Macromedia JRun . In most cases, Saké Mail is even easier to install than an ordinary CGI script, just take a look at the installation instructions in our Saké Mail documentation to see why. Saké Mail then connects to a mail server either running on the same machine as the web server that hosts Saké Mail or on a different machine. Saké Mail is capable of communicating with both IMAP and POP3 mail servers, and it uses SMTP to send messages. (See Figure 1.)

Electronic Noticeboard System
Orangevalley Systems manufacture and supply a cost effective, easy to install and use electronic noticeboard or information display system. The system can be used for a single screen noticeboard or multiple screen noticeboards. The system is fully html compatible and runs over a standard LAN.
The Electronic Noticeboard System provides a simple and easy to operate system for showing a number of 'channels' of information screens to a wide audience. Supporting up to 255 different channels of information, each noticeboard channel or group can be assigned to show a carousel of any number of pages that will then be displayed one after the other on Plasma, LCD or TV screens. The cycling or single message pages are quickly created by simply dropping the display page into a channel list and clicking a button. The use of multiple channels allows you to target different sets of messages to different parts of your building. Typically production information can be displayed on a factory floor, while notices of events could be shown in the works canteen, and corporate information could be displayed in your reception area. Noticeboard display pages are quickly and easily created with our page editor software which offers a wide selection of page templates ranging from a simple textual information page to pages with pictures and video clips. The display pages fully support the html specification and are capable of displaying standard text messages or full multimedia information.

The Mayan Symbol for Zero
While its value is simple enough, the role of the Mayan symbol is considered one of the greatest achievements of the Mayan civilization. is the Mayan equivalent of the Arabic zero (0), and it allowed the Mayans to express any whole number quantity using place notation. People who have used Roman numerals know how frustrating a number system that does not use place notation can be. At first glance, the Roman system seems better; smaller numbers expressed in Roman numerals are simpler than those written in Arabic form. To express the counting numbers between 1 and 9, you need three Roman symbols as opposed to nine Arabic symbols. It is when you travel farther up the number line that the Roman system becomes complicated. Each larger quantity (X, L, C, M, etc.) needs a different symbol. The Arabic system never needs more symbols than the ten it starts with. The value of a particular symbol depends not only on what it is, but also where it is. When you see the number 34, you assume that each unit in the right place is worth 1 and each unit in the left place is worth 10. But some quantities do not fill all the places they use, which is why all place notation systems need a zero. Zeros represent places which are there but do not have anything in them. Place notation also makes addition and subtraction relatively easy. Each place in a number can be treated in the same way so that learning how to add a large number is as simple as learning how to add one of its places or "carry" numbers when the sum of a place exceeds the maximum value that that place can hold. With Mayan numbers, carrying is done almost the same way as with Arabic numbers.

Cuneiform numbers
Cuneiform numbers were written using a combination of just two signs: a vertical wedge for '1' and a corner wedge for '10'. Handwriting varied as much in Old Babylonian times as it does now but the basic system of numbers is illustrated below.
Some common variants are
for 4 for 7 for 8. Occasionally, 19 was written as something like , meaning 20 - 1, although there are a huge number of minor variations in the way this sign is written.
Additionally, there were special signs for some common fractions. These were used when the numbers stood for metrological quantities, such as 1/2 gin.

ABA Routing Numbers
Background and Development of the Numbering System The basic routing number, devised by the American Bankers Association (ABA) in 1910, has served to identify the specific financial institution responsible for the payment of a negotiable instrument. Originally designed to identify only check processing endpoints, the routing number system has evolved to designate participants in automated clearinghouses, electronic funds transfer, and on-line banking. The ABA Routing Number (a.k.a. ABA number; Routing Transit number) has changed over the years to accommodate such things as the Federal Reserve System, the advent of MICR, and the implementation of the Expedited Funds Availability Act (EFAA). Obtaining a Routing Number A routing number will only be issued to a Federal or State chartered financial institution which is eligible to maintain an account at a Federal Reserve Bank. TFP serves as the ABA's official Registrar in the assigning and administering of routing numbers. Newly organized financial institutions must apply to TFP in writing for their routing numbers. For details regarding the application process, contact:
