GSHHS - A Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Shoreline Database
GSHHS is a high-resolution shoreline data set amalgamated from two data bases in the public domain. The data have undergone extensive processing and are free of internal inconsistencies such as erratic points and crossing segments. The shorelines are constructed entirely from hierarchically arranged closed polygons. The data can be used to simplify data searches and data selections, or to study the statistical characteristics of shorelines and land-masses. It comes with access software and routines to facilitate decimation based on a standard line-reduction algorithm. Availability of the GSHHS data (v1.2 May 18, 1999)
  • Download GSHHS data
The link above is to the NGDC server, GSHHS data are also available for direct download from the SOEST server . Please see the readme.txt file for full documentation. The latest files for version 1.2 were created May 18, 1999. The new version corrects previous errors for Win32 systems and is Y2K and POSIX compliant.

New Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics
An international journal of Pacific Rim Geosciences
ISSN 0028-8306 Editor: Robert Lynch NEW ZEALAND IS ONE OF THE BEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD for displaying a number of modern geologic processes that can be studied for application in other places. As a Pacific Rim country, with a long history of geoscience investigation, it is well respected for its growing activities in circumpacific earth science. New Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics - an international journal of Pacific Rim Geosciences - has been a part of that activity for over 45 years. The journal publishes original research papers on all aspects of the earth sciences relevant to New Zealand, the Pacific, and Antarctica. Its role is to make that research accessible and applicable to geoscientists everywhere whose interests lie within and beyond the circumpacific area. New Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics
    • Accepts papers from authors worldwide. Every paper is internationally refereed and distributed Promotes the growing international interest in circumpacific earth science Has an International Advisory Board and an Editorial Advisory Panel to provide expert advice and suggestions (listed below) Is published quarterly in large A4 format, over 500 pages per year
