141. BBSRC Cereal Functional Genomics - Main Page
Cereal functional genomics at the University of Bristol. Bioinformatics tools for wheat and maize research including digital differential display, BLAST, electronic Northern blots and microarray analysis. Investigating gene function in cereals IGF Program Wheat Maize SNPs Bioinformatics Personnel NEWS
The 10K feature wheat developmental stage microarrays are now available, along with the unigene set: more details
Maize and updated Wheat SNPs
now available. The latest wheat build uses 397K public sequences
The wheat EST database can now be searched by digital differential display as well as keyword/BLAST.
In the Functional Genomics group at the University of Bristol , we are (in collaboration with Rothamstead Research) investigating gene function in wheat and maize as part of the BBSRC IGF program . In wheat , we have obtained 26K quality and vector trimmed EST's from 35 cDNA libraries relating to different stages of grain development and various stress treatments. These sequences have be used to produce a ~10K feature unigene set, which has been arrayed on to glass slides. These arrays are currently being used for high-throughput gene expression studies, and are available to the wider public on request. In maize we have produced transposon mutagenesis resources based on Robertson's Mutator ( Mu ) transposable elements. These include a classic

Mammalian Genome
Journal Welcome.
The International Mammalian Genome Society exists primarily to foster and stimulate research in mammalian genetics from sequencing and functional genomics to mutagenesis and mutant analysis, and to represent the concerns of its members in their professional activities. The activities of the society have expanded with the growing realization of the important and unique role of rodent species in current biomedical and genetic research. The extensive mouse genetic resources and the identification of evolutionary conserved linkage relationships between mice and humans offer significant opportunities for understanding gene function in relation to human development and disease. The role of the mouse in current biomedical and genetic research will increase further as the benefits of comparative sequence analysis of the human and mouse genomes and large scale mutagenesis programs are obtained. The roles of other mammalian organisms will expand as their genomes are sequenced.
