Welcome to the Computational Geometry Pages, a (hopefully) comprehensive directory of computational geometry resources both on and off the Internet. If there is something you'd like to see here, please send me email. Contributions and suggestions from the community are always welcome! Other essential computational geometry sites include Nina Amenta 's Directory of Computational Geometry Software 's CG Tribune (a newsletter with events and announcements), David Eppstein 's Geometry in Action (describing applications of computational geometry in the Real World), and the 's collection of computational geometry papers new recent current search ] moderated by Joe O'Rourke There are also several excellent Web pages devoted to theoretical computer science in general. Degree Programs
The Department of Mathematics has four graduate degree programs, the Master of Science in Mathematics, the Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, the Master of Art in Mathematics, and the PhD in Mathematics. Unconditional Admission For unconditional admission to these programs a student must first satisfy the General Admission Requirements of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics . In addition, the Department has admission requirements for each of these programs. For admission to the Master of Science in Applied Mathematics program, a student must have completed a baccalaureate degree with a 3.0 GPA over the last 60 hours of course work and have a good background in mathematics, including at least 9 hours of mathematics at the junior or senior level. A student need not have majored in Mathematics to be admitted into this program. For admission to the Master of Science in Mathematics program, a student must have completed a baccalaureate degree in Mathematics with a 3.0 GPA over the last 60 hours of course work.

Best of EDP in !!! This book is excelent because there's reviews of calculus, linear algebra and all sort of classical numerical methods needed to understand the finite element method. Moreover, the authors try and succed in giving a clear explanation of many applications of the method. Well, a must of numerical analysis that every scientific searchers and engineers must own !!! An excellent book Great book to learn the fundamentals of finite element methods (FEM). The authors combine both rigour and simplicity in their presentation of the FEM as a means of numerically solving a wide variety of partial differential equations. Highly recommended for engineersespecially those who have been taught FEM using the traditional "structural mechanics" approach. Amazing Excellent approach for numerical and computational issues. Perfect for creating solid programs that work and it also explains every detail in a great way.

ESTIMATING VISCOELASTIC CONSTANTS OF TWO-PHASE COMPOSITES, James G. Berryman, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Dept of Computational Physics, Livermore, CA; Graeme W. Milton, Univ of Utah, Dept of Mathematics, Salt Lake City, UT.
Hashin-Shtrikman-type variational pricniples have been formulated in order to obtain rigorous bounds on the shear modulus of two-phase viscoelastic composites. The simplest class of bounding regions is composed of circles in the complex plane containing four points related to the viscoelastic moduli of the constitutents, and depending on a scalar parameter. A method of generating the convex hull of all such bounding regions has been developed. Several examples of bounds computed using the method will be presented, including one for suspensions of solid particles in a viscous fluid. In the important limiting case when all the constituent moduli are real, the new shear bounds are shown to reduce precisely to the well-known Hashin-Shtrikman-Walpole bounds.

Method of Assessment:
Continuous Assessment, Project Duration: 1 Week Module In the UK and abroad, engineering practice is changing very rapidly. These changes are driven by developments in new technologies, especially in key areas such as design analysis and manufacture. This course option provides an opportunity for the student to gain an understanding of these new technologies and how they may be exploited within an industrial organisation to gain maximum benefit. Lectures are complemented by computer based workshops in which the student is able to gain practical experience in using a state-of-the-art engineering package.

I'm looking for (fortran) software that will solve overdetermined systems of linear equations in the L-1 (least absolute sum) sense. Couldn't find it in netlib. The systems I have are small (50x20) and dense. Regards, Joe Grcar (na.grcar@...) About Me
I'm a graduate student working with Dr. Renee Borges at the Centre for Ecological Sciences Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. My work is on the Foraging Behaviour of the Malabar Giant Squirrel, Ratufa indica, seen in the picture below.
In plain language, I'm trying to understand how this beautiful animal decides where to go and what to eat when it's hungry.
Here's a more technical introduction to my research.
