Abstract
An approximate harmonic analysis method of nonlinear circuits is introduced. The method solves the steady-state time-domain representation as well as the frequency response of nonlinear circuits. It allows simulation of nonideal switched capacitor circuits composed of any kinds of linear components and nonlinear transistors as switches. All switches must have the same period, but they can be opened and closed at any time. The method proposed may also be applied to mixer analysis for the case of strong LO and weak RF signal. Examples are given to demonstrate that the method is efficient and sufficiently fast to be used in circuit design. The simulation results show good agreement with those obtained by harmonic balance and transient analysis.

Abstract
Much of the theory and analysis for computations on the sphere is best understood in the context of Fourier theory and analysis in Cartesian geometry. In addition, discrete harmonic analysis begins with Fourier analysis in the longitudinal direction. Therefore we begin our study of computations on the sphere with a review of topics in discrete Fourier analysis. Click here to view the notes.

Third Announcement
General Information
The SIAM Activity Group (SIAG) on Orthogonal Polynomials and Special Functions organizes a series of summer schools. The first of this series was the school in Laredo, Spain, in 2000. This year we kindly invite You to Inzell, Germany, in the Alps southeast of Munich. It is planed to continue the series in 2002 in Leuven, Belgium ( contact Erik Koelink ), and 2003 in Aveiro, Portugal ( contact Amilcar Branquinho The goal of the Summer School is to give four introductory courses in advanced research topics on orthogonal polynomials, harmonic analysis, approximation and applications. Some free discussions and some informal seminars will also be available. The expected audience are graduate and recent postgraduate students as well as young active researchers. The topics to be considered will be:
  • Orthogonal Polynomials

Harmonic analysis
Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition Harmonic analysis is the branch of mathematics Mathematics is commonly defined as the study of patterns of structure, change, and space; more informally, one might say it is the study of 'figures and numbers'. In the formalist view, it is the investigation of axiomatically defined abstract structures using logic and mathematical notation; other views are described in Philosophy of mathematics. Mathematics might be seen as a simple extension of spoken and written languages, with an extremely precisely defined vocabulary and grammar, for the purpose of describing and exploring physical and conceptual relationships.

It investigates and generalizes the notions of Fourier series In mathematics, a Fourier series , named in honor of Joseph Fourier (1768-1830), is a representation of a periodic function as a sum of periodic functions of the form which are harmonics of e i x ; Fourier was the first to study such series systematically. He applied these series to the solution of the heat equation, publishing his initial results in 1807 and 1811. This area of inquiry is sometimes called harmonic analysis.

Horst Alzer Gamma function inequalities - a survey Abstract. In 1974, W. Gautschi published a remarkable harmonic mean inequality for Euler's gamma function. This result found much attention among several mathematicians and since then many papers appeared providing new inequalities for the gamma function. It is the aim of this talk to give a survey of some of the most interesting theorems on this subject. In particular, we present a double-inequality for the gamma-function which was published (without proof) by Ramanujan in 1916 and which was established in 2003. Michael Semenov-Tian-Shansky (U.B. Full-Text - Abstract
Frequency domain evaluation of eddy current signals (harmonic analysis) in ferro- magnetic materials has been introduced in the last years as an industrial tool for materials characterization and proved to be a reliable and cost effective alternative to traditional techniques of quality control (metalography, mechanical tests, etc.). In this paper the harmonic analysis is applied to nodular cast iron materials to characterize and to evaluate the technique performance in predicting their metallurgical and mechanical properties. The samples were first characterized metalographically and by mechanical tests to a quantitative determination of their microstructrual parameters (graphite nodules and pearlite/ferrite ratio of the matrix) and their mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength and hardness) respectively. This mechanical and metallurgical parameter were found to have a very good correlation with the harmonic analysis parameters measured in the same samples, showing reliable industrial applicability of the technique.
