EVOLUTION DIALOGUE Evolutionary Psychology Challenges the Current Social Sciences J. Raymond Zimmer
3347 W. 66 th Place
Chicago, IL 60629 Evolutionary psychology is a new multidisciplinary field which promises to irrevocably change the traditional social sciences. This article introduces evolutionary psychology, explains how it challenges current social science, then discusses the opportunities it presents for Christian apologetics. To show that evolutionary psychology theories may be complementary, rather than antagonistic, to Christian views, a hypothesis within the Darwinian paradigm is proposed to explain the evolution of human awareness of supernature. Human awareness of supernature may be founded on the logical relationship between evolutionarily recent psychological adaptations in response to novel hominid social arrangements and more ancient mammalian psychologies. The hypothesis, though based on naturalism, paradoxically eclipses atheistic natural philosophy. Awareness of something beyond nature may be integral to human survival. Once again, there is much ado about Darwinism in the popular press

Life at the Palace
A Cyberpsychology Case Study The Palace is a client/server program that creates a highly visual, spatial, and auditory chat environment. It is an excellent example of the current trend toward graphical, interactive domains on the internet, sometimes referred to as "habitats," "GMUKS" (Graphical Multi-user Konversation), or, "multimedia chat." Currently, there are many Palace sites located across the internet, varying widely in technical and artistic sophistication as well as graphical themes (e.g., a futuristic Cybertown, a haunted house, Japan, Star Trek, etc.). Some sites are commercial, some private. Some even may be considered "art." The oldest and one of the most populated sites is the Main Mansion, or simply "Main." Created and maintained by TPI (The Palace Incorporated, which later merged with Electric Communities), Mansion consists of approximately 30 rooms - including a bar, a game room, bedrooms, a study, a beach, a moor, and several surrealistic locales, such as the orbit of an alien planet and an underground space that looks like Hades. These room graphics often are used at other Palace sites. Users can move freely within and between the rooms. They talk with each other via typed text that appears in balloons that pop out from one's head, similar to characters in comic strips. A unique feature of the Palace is the ability to create icons to represent oneself. These icons, called "avatars" or "props" can be changed at will.

Introduction
Mind is the forerunner of all (evil) conditions.
Mind is their chief, and they are mind-made.
If, with an impure mind, one speaks or acts, Then suffering follows one Even as the cart wheel follows the hoof of the ox. Mind is the forerunner of all (good) conditions. Mind is their chief, and they are mind-made. If, with a pure mind, one speaks or acts, Then happiness follows one Like a never-departing shadow.

The Prime Time Program at Saint Joseph College was established in 1985 to provide an option for working men and women who want to earn a baccalaureate degree on weekends without interfering with professional or family responsibilities. It is geared to the mature, self-motivated individual who is seeking an alternative means of completing his or her education. Classes are intensive learning experiences adapted to a weekend time frame. Many courses cover the same class material as traditional courses but follow a different methodology, with fewer class contact hours and more directed study. Most classes meet for three and one-half hours per weekend, or once a week, M-H evenings. Three terms are scheduled during the

Research partners and sponsors.
The horse has been designed and molded by evolution so that it possesses a range of behaviors that have supported its existence and maintained the survival of the Equine species. The relationship between the horse and mankind is thousands of years old, but it is only in the last half century that we have begun to seriously study the core behaviors which make up the 'nature' of those animals that we use. Many management methods in use today have their origins in the days before new disciplines such as Ethology, Sociobiology and comparative psychology arose, yet it is these disciplines that have offered us an understanding of both animal and human nature, and insights into how behavior can best be understood, and behavioral problems overcome. The site is brought to you by the White Horse Equine Ethology Project , and has become internationally acknowledged as an important and unique Equine Behavior resource accessed by users and members from 102 countries worldwide, including faculty and students from over 1250 universities, colleges and centers of tertiary education in 67 countries.

119. Perspectives On Imitation
Royaumont Abbey, France; 2426 May 2002.
http://www.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/Psychology/imitation/
Introduction Background Programme Venue Registration ... Posters
The conference is now fully booked
Imitation, one of the primary forms of social learning, is often thought of as a low-level, relatively childish or even mindless phenomenon. This may be a serious mistake. It is beginning to look, in light of recent work in the cognitive sciences, as if imitation is a rare, perhaps even uniquely human ability, which may be fundamental to what is distinctive about human learning, intelligence, rationality, and culture. If so, this will have important consequences for our understanding of ourselves both individually and socially. In particular, social learning by imitation is not merely a mechanism by means of which children acquire culture, but may also have pervasive influence throughout adulthood, in ways that we are only just beginning to understand. The purpose of the conference is to bring together the world's leading figures working on imitation from various disciplines in order to relate and integrate different research traditions. The cognitive sciences have made significant recent advances in the study of imitation. We aim to make these accessible to the social sciences, so as to clarify their philosophical and social importance, and facilitate cross-fertilization between the cognitive and social sciences in this area.
