PNS originated in 1979-80 as the Philadelphia Clinical Neuropsychology Group and served as the early source of communication and collaboration among a growing group of clinicians practicing neuropsychology in the greater Delaware Valley. It was among the earliest regional neuropsychology organizations in the United States. The journal Neuropsychology was founded by PNS in 1988 and published at Drexel University until APA bought the journal in 1990. PNS has been sponsoring bi-annual symposia since 1982 featuring prominent neuropsychologists.
PNS is composed of individuals interested in brain-behavior relationships. The organization is open to all interested clinicians, researchers, educators, and consumers. PNS promotes professional development by sponsoring annual workshops and serves as a resource in the Delaware Valley for information about neuropsychology.

89. TMS Treatment For Depression: The TMSPlus Trial
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a new method for treating mood disorders.
http://www.neuropsychology.co.uk/tms/
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a potential new treatment for depression. It is currently being tested as a potential antidepressant in a large clinical trial in the South East London area. Information on the trial and this promising new therapy in psychiatry is given below. hat does it involve? A single treatment with TMS (sometimes called rTMS) takes about 20 minutes. However, to receive a full course patients have to attend every weekday for 2 (i.e. 10 treatments). The procedure itself involves a magnetic coil being held over a specific part of the front part of the head. The picture below shows a typical situation. The person being treated is wearing a cloth cap that has marks on it so that the doctor knows exactly where to hold the magnetic coil. The Trial Is Now Open to People With Depression Who Have Been Taking Medications Over an Extended Period (previously they had to have only just started on anti-depressants). here is the trial being run? Treatments are given at an out patient clinic at the Maudsley hospital on Denmark Hill, London. The trials are being coordinated by the following people: Dr Declan McLoughlin, Dr Andrew Mogg, Dr Savitha Eranti, Dr Graham Pluck and Mrs Lee Wilding all of whom work at the Institute of Psychiatry, De Crespigny Park, London.

http://stephan.com/NeuroBio.html
Consciousness Reframed III Neuropsychology and Game Design Jussi Holopainen Stephan Meyers This paper discusses the role of dramatic and predictive closure and temporal and somatic displacement in the design of games, especially computer games. Each of these elements is drawn on the physical characteristics of the human brain and corresponding mind structures. We further argue that enjoyment in game play is a product of these evolutionary features, and that the most successful game design presents the user with the opportunity to seek closure and to displace the sense of self. Keywords: game design, computer games, dramatic closure, predictive closure, temporal displacement, somatic displacement
  • Introduction This paper proposes a model for studying elements of game design rooted in neuropsychology. By examining these elements in a context of other forms of art and the biological functions of the intended audience, we hope to point the way for further aesthetic advancement in this most lively new form. We argue that enjoyment in game play is a product of the evolution of the human mind, an increasingly common point of view in the field. In

Postdoctoral Neuropsychology Certificate Program Overview In our two-year Postdoctoral Neuropsychology Certificate Program, students and faculty meet in cluster groups in major metropolitan areas. The program is designed to meet the needs of professional psychologists who seek an alternative to residency programs away from their work. This post-graduate program allows students to continue working in their current positions while at the same time gaining both the theoretical grounding and applied clinical experience needed to develop proficiency in neuropsychological assessment and intervention. The program has three components: theory/foundation courses, hands-on clinical assessment courses, and a clinical component consisting of a 1,000-hour practicum with an additional 200 hours of supervision. There is also a final professional evaluation. The program is guided by its cluster faculty and practicing neuropsychologists, many of whom have published widely and made significant contributions to the field.
