U of O announces 1999-2000 WAIS Schedule
CLARKSVILLE, Ark
This year's theme for the annual series is "The Millennium: Looking Forward! Looking Back!" The six selections in the series reflect both where we come from and where we might be going as we enter a new century, according to WAIS director Ginny Myers. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Seay Theatre of the Walton Fine Arts Center on the U of O campus.
The series begins on Tuesday, Sept. 14, when The Arkansas Symphony under the baton of David Itkin takes the stage. The classical and pops concert will feature such selections as Aaron Copeland's Hoedown from Rodeo, Leonard Bernstein's Overture to Candide, Duke Ellington's Caravan, and a George M. Cohan Celebration.
On Oct. 16, Luma: Theatre of Light will perform a show blending various physical performances disciplines with new light technologies. Luma places audiences in a darkened theatre where three dimensional illuminated images paint a magical world of light, color and motion.
