"From her earliest years as a concert pianist, Nadejda Vlaeva has had a special affinity with the music of Franz Liszt. By far the greater portion of her repertory is presently devoted to the Hungarian master. She was fifteen years old when she arrived at a major turning point in her career by winning the Gold Medal of the International Liszt Competition in Lucca, Italy....Vlaeva's playing is marked by a rich sound, a singing line, and an intuitive grasp of Liszt's musical structures which in the case of his longer compositions, can be complicated. That she has a shining technique, able to cope with any Lisztian emergency, goes without saying." Alan Walker , author of the 3-Volume, prize winning biography of Franz Liszt. Ms. Vlaeva has performed in concerts internationally, giving solo recitals in Bulgaria, Russia, Slovakia, Hungary, The Netherlands, England, Canada, and the United States. She has also appeared as soloist with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Capella Istropolitana in Slovakia and various orchestras in Bulgaria and Holland. Her playing has been acclaimed wherever she has appeared.
Lazar Berman calls her talent "God-given..."

PIANIST RAISES AUDIENCE STANDARDS WITH ELECTRIFYING PERFORMANCE
"Tenacity, control, and emotion: these are just a few of the elements needed for a concert pianist to impress the audience. Every once in a while, a pianist comes along who redefines the standards, both for pianists and the audience's listening. In the fifth of the Virtuosi concert series on Saturday, December 6, Nadejda Vlaeva didn't just impress the audience; she elevated their future listening standards..."

WHAT THE AUDIENCE SAID:
“Ms. Vlaeva plays with such perfect clarity, the rippling effects of the Scarlatti and Haydn just seem to drop from her fingers like glittering jewels. She plays with an understanding of every note..” “She played a delightful concert and conveyed a sparkling personality as well.”

The opening piece, which Liszt composed for his eldest daughter, Blandine, is given a remarkably evocative reading, more effective than any I have previously heard. Vlaeva's Dante Sonata ranks among the top recordings of this challenging work, which Affred Brendel calls Liszt's most Berliozian piano piece. I still favor Mocsari's performance (Hungaroton) for its excitement, but Vlaeva shrouds it with more atmosphere.

January 10, 2004 Raymond Jackson, Professor of Music at Howard University, Washington, DC has taught and served in administrative capacities since 1977. A life dedicated to music began in Providence, RI where he received piano instruction from age five. Early mastery of the keyboard expanded six years later when study of the organ, along with the piano, helped inspire a major career as concert pianist and recording artist; scholar, researcher, teacher and coach; church organist and choral conductor; lecturer, clinician and adjudicator. From this genesis his talents, performances and achievements have been recognized, sought after, and heralded in many parts of the western world. Advanced musical studies began at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, where he received the Bachelor of Music degree in piano. He has the distinction of being the first in Conservatory history to simultaneously graduate first in his class, summa cum laude
