Friday, November 14 th , 2003 - The Royal Winnipeg Ballet We welcome the return of Canada's ROYAL WINNIPEG BALLET to Welland. In our survey of the most popular concerts since our independence, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet topped the charts! They will be coming with a new full-length ballet production of the Magic Flute, especially created for the Royal Winnipeg's 2003/2004 season by Mark Godden. The Magic Flute will be based on the well-known Mozart comedy opera of the same name and it will feature a core company of 20 dancers. Truly an evening not to be missed. The company has never looked more resplendent, more assured, or more ravishing . . . a jewel box of sumptuous dancing." - The Vancouver Sun Website: www.rwb.org

Singing and dancing at the Imperial
ENTERTAINMENT: From 'South Pacific' to offbeat sounds, the Saint John theatre lineup has it all

The Celtic harp duo of Ardyth and Jennifer will appear on Nov. 30 while Montreal Danse hits the stage of the Imperial Theatre in Saint John on Oct. 30. Both are part of the 24 acts lined up for the theatre in the upcoming season that runs from October, 2002, to May of next year. GRANT KERR
Telegraph-Journal
For its 2002-03 season, the Imperial Theatre in Saint John is rolling out an array of programming that should appeal to fans of musicals, dance, a wide array of music and those with tastes that are a little more offbeat.
As has been the case with just about every season past, the Imperial is bringing in a big Broadway musical. This time it's Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific on Feb. 26 and 27. Some of the celebrated songwriting team's classics like I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair and Some Enchanted Evening are in this war-time romance.
Imperial Theatre general manager Peter Smith said programming the Professional Entertainment Series is a bit of a balancing act.

50. Biography
The Duke Trio with violinist Mark Fewer, pianist Peter Longworth and cellist ThomasWiebe; international concert pianist alexander tselyakov; pianists Dorothy
http://www.timothyminthorn.com/bio.html
Composer and pianist Timothy Minthorn comes from a successful classical performance background. He is a remarkably versatile musician, accomplished in disciplines of performance and both composition for concert and for television. He is also a talented jazz musician. After receiving a degree in music, he moved to Toronto to pursue studies in composition with the late Juno award winning composer Srul Irving Glick . This was the beginning of a six year comprehensive exploration into advanced compositional techniques and theory, which was complemented with advanced piano studies with concert pianist, Gloria Saarinen. Such intensive studies are reflected in Minthorn's work today, as the late composer Srul Irving Glick called Timothy a "pianist of considerable ability", predicting that he "has the talent to make an important contribution to Canadian music". Timothy has demonstrated his unique talent as a virtuoso composer-pianist at the University of Waterloo, Kingston University, The University of Guelph, Roy Thomson Hall, the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Artword Theatre , the Music Gallery His music lecture and masterclass circuit has included such notable institutions as the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, Kingston University and the University of Guelph.
