Click the arrow on the left to see the site menu. Kathryn Stott is one of Britain’s most versatile and respected musicians. As a pianist, whether performing a new commission, making music with like-minded friends, recording unusual works or exploring repertoire beyond the normal Western classical piano tradition, she is committed to sharing her enthusiasm with as wide an audience as possible. Engagements as a concerto soloist with orchestras throughout Britain and Europe, Hong Kong and Australia, are combined with recital and chamber music activities with a refreshingly varied circle of collaborators, taking her to major music centres throughout the world. Current and forthcoming engagements include a recital tour of the US (as well as concerts in Munich, Lucerne, London and Dublin) with her longtime friend and colleague, Yo-Yo Ma; appearances with the Lindsay Quartet in Spain and with the Skampa Quartet in Italy, Holland and the UK; performances with Isabelle Van Keulen and Michael Collins in Spain and Italy, and with Janine Jansen at the Edinburgh Festival; engagements at the Delft and Stavanger chamber music festivals and a tour of the US with Truls Mørk.. The critically acclaimed premiere of Graham Fitkin’s Circuit for two pianos, with the BBC Philharmonic, was one recent highlight of her piano duo partnership with Noriko Ogawa, which shortly sees them on tour in Japan. As a result of Kathryn Stott’s interest in contemporary music several composers have written for her, including Julian Josephs, and in 2004 she takes part in a new piano trio commissioned from Fitkin by the Concertgebouw. She has given the first performances of new works by many of today’s leading composers: Michael Nyman’s Piano Concerto, Maxwell Davies's Piano Concerto, and Marc Yeats's

Classical Music: A quick return and welcome Jan 10 2003
By Val Javin, The Huddersfield Daily Examiner THEIR last concert in Huddersfield was greeted by our critic as one of the greatest orchestral performances he had ever heard in the Town Hall. Combine that compliment with the choice of programme for its next visit and its difficult to see how the Orchestra of Opera North won't have music-lovers queuing round the Town Hall to get in. This highly praised orchestra returns to Huddersfield next Thursday, less than a month after the concert which so delighted Adrian Smith. This first classical concert of the New Year should get this second half of the season off to a glorious start. For it features two well-loved classical pieces and a notable soloist - the pianist Noriko Ogawa. Christian Gansch will conduct the orchestra in Mozart's Piano Concerto No 21 and Bruckner's Symphony No 4.

T he American identical twins, Richard and John Contiguglia, are among the most acclaimed and versatile piano duos in the world today. Almost 40 years since their highly acclaimed London debut in 1962, which the London Daily Telegraph described as setting "a new standard for this intimate form of music-making," Richard and John are now the proprietors of their own recording company, Gemini CD Classics . Their first releases, Schubert Piano Duets - The Final Year and Live From The Holland Liszt Festival - Duos of Franz Liszt for One and Two Pianos , reflect their lifelong commitment to popularizing the great body of music for two pianists. Their recordings and performances of Bartók's Suite for Two Pianos, Op. 4b , of Liszt's transcription for two pianos of Beethoven's 9th Symphony and of Liszt's Operatic Paraphrases on Don Giovanni, Norma, and La Sonnambula

Welcome to Master Musicians
That wise old Greek, Plato, defined music as a moral law that gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, charm to sadness and life to everything. Explain music whatever way you will, the reality is that we are all affected at some time in our lives by the powerful emotions and sheer pleasure that it inspires: and because of this MASTER MUSICIANS, has been founded in North Shields to bring to this region the best of music, LIVE, and at affordable prices. The American MARK ANDERSON, who many thought should have won the 1993 Leeds competition, certainly proved a winner here. SA CHEN, from China, a finalist in the Leeds when only 17 gave a stunning performance before a packed Christ Church audience... and another memorable recital featured the brilliant Russian pianist MARGARITA SHEVCHENKO.
These outstanding musicians - and many more- happily look forward to visiting this area.
