Soloists Each season, the Vermont Mozart Festival has the great pleasure of presenting world class artists. Please read about our soloists below. Sarah Cullins Marjorie Drysdale Marjorie Drysdale, soprano, is a soloist in opera, oratorio, musical theatre and recital. She has performed with the VT Symphony, Vermont Mozart Festival, New England Bach Festival, Oriana Singers, Opera North, Darmouth Symphony, Hanover Chamber Orchestra, Montpelier Chamber Orchestra, VT Philharmonic Orchestra, Through the Opera Glass and VT Opera Theater. Marjorie teaches voice at Johnson State College, at the Monteverdi Music School, and at her home studio in Randolph. She has conducted the auditioned chamber chorus, "Sounding Joy!" for 20 years. Marjorie holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and a Masters of Music from the University of Michigan. David Fedele Flutist David Fedele, presented his New York recital debut at the 92nd Street "Y" as winner of the Young Concert Artists International Audition Award, and was described by the New York Times as "the most impressive debut artist, whose virtues begin with a firm tone that is especially beautiful, mechanical facility, and a feeling for the rise and fall of a phrase." He has won many other honors including the Olga Koussevitsky Competition of the Musicians Club of New York, a grant from Arts International, a top prize in the Second Kobe International Flute Competition in Japan and first place in the New York Flute Club Competition.

Vocal Ensemble You are here: Home Ensemble Members Pianist Akrivou Myrto myrto@eklipsis.gr Myrto Akrivou was born in Athens. She studied piano with S. Makriyianni and E. Mouzala at the National Conservatory, from where she graduated with a diploma degree, and is currently studying classical singing. She is soon to receive a diploma degree in it, as well. She has attended seminars with Alain Lefevre, Rudolf Jansen and C. Ganev, as well as pedagogical seminars of the Greek Society for Music Education (GSME). She has performed extensively in both solo and chamber music fields, her engagements having taken her to many music festivals throughout Greece. In addition to performing, she has also been working as a piano teacher since 1997.

Das Irakische Volk hat genug gelitten!
In der International Herald Tribune erschien am 20. März 2002 folgende Anzeige, die wir in deutscher und englischer Sprache dokumentieren.
Wir, die Unterzeichnenden, die einen breiten internationalen Konsens repräsentieren, fordern die unverzügliche Aufhebung der Wirtschaftssanktionen gegen den Irak.
Das Sanktionsregime, das seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt über das Volk des Irak verhängt wird, ist eine der großen Ungerechtigkeiten unserer Zeit. Es hat Millionen von unschuldigen Irakern Hungersnot und Krankheit gebracht. UNICEF hat gezeigt, dass die Wirtschaftssanktionen zum Tod von einer halben Million Kindern beigetragen haben. Für den Zeitraum von 1990 bis 2000 hat UNICEF herausgefunden, dass von 188 untersuchten Ländern der Irak die schlimmste Veränderung der Todeshäufigkeit bei Kindern unter fünf Jahren erlitten hat. So stieg die Kindersterblichkeitsrate in diesem Jahrzehnt um mehr als das Doppelte.
Das ist nicht einfach ein Verbrechen gegen die Kinder des Irak und Millionen irakischer Familien. Es ist ein Verstoß gegen international anerkannte Menschenrechte und humanitäre Standards.
