MUSIC: Playing host to piano man
College, orchestra join to feature renowned artist
By Record-Eagle staff writer SCOTTVILLE - Andreas Klein, a pianist who has played at Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center and with the Berlin Philharmonic, and who has been featured on PBS, is performing in Ludington Saturday. The concert, set for 8 p.m. in Peterson Auditorium, results from a joint effort of West Shore Community College and the Manistee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Performing with the Manistee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, Klein will be soloist in the Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 in g minor. The concert marks the first collaboration between the college's cultural arts department and Manistee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. MSOC founding director Jim Bond said he hopes it's the first of many. "They (West Shore) have a sterling cultural arts program that should be the envy of any college anywhere," Bond said. "Unlike other community orchestras, we do all professional repertoires, we book the finest talented soloists we can find. We have had many emerging acclaimed artists and we've had artists whose careers have already been established and are now phasing into retirement.

HOTEL OLYMPIC,
