Mr. Klein is an excellent pianist. In Berg's Sonata the voluptuous haze was blown away: one followed the progress of every theme and motive as they steadily transformed themselves into a single architectural design.
THE NEW YORK TIMES Andreas Klein with the Green Bay Symphony, October 2003
Beethoven Concerto No. 5, (Emperor) .....his conception was anything but "klein" (small), but he gave as much emphasis to the sunny lyric stretches as to the stormier portions. His balanced approach called to mind such masterful pianists as Wilhelm Kempf and Edwin Fisher artists whose patrician integrity offered examples too seldom followed today.

... The virtuosity of these performers was on greater display in Mozart's Concerto No. 12 in A, K. 414. The intelligent soloist Andreas Klein's articulate yet flowing pianism nicely matched the orchestra's sound in this crystalline work. Stravinsky's Concerto in D for String Orchestra had every bit as much of this Mozartian clarity and grace.

Jan. 31, 1997 Pianist Klein to Appear March 5 Internationally acclaimed pianist Andreas Klein will perform March 5 at 8 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at UW-River Falls. Admission at the door will be $5. No advance tickets will be sold for this event. "This is an incredible opportunity to listen to a world-class musician. He has numerous talents and abilities and is very captivating," says Kaye Schendel, director of UW-RF's Wyman Performance series. Klein performs in recital and with orchestras from around the world. At a recent concert, Klein was asked to substitute for renowned colleague Claude Frank just 24 hours before a performance and play Beethoven's "Concerto No. 3." His performance earned him an invitation for the next season. Enthusiastic audiences and the media greeted Klein last fall as he toured Germany, his native country. His performances were often encored three times. A recital at the National Gallery of Art in Dresden, Germany, "An Evening with Beethoven," was broadcast live on the radio throughout Germany. Also last season, conductors and audiences admired Klein for performances with orchestras. He made his debut in Canada with the Sault Symphony, and in Florida, he performed the forgotten "Piano Concerto No. 2" by Mozart with the Gainesville Symphony.

Celebrated for his expressive and poetic performances, Andreas Klein is a luminous and captivating pianist, whose artistic triumphs received acclaim from critics and presenters internationally.
Comments from New York City recital echoed back " he gave a very successful concert on our series, his Beethoven and Chopin were a hit with our audience ." (Rockefeller University)
" Klein's scrupulous attention to beauty and evenness of tone served the piano music well. He coaxed sparkling clarity from the piano's upper reaches and commanding, stentorian rumble from the bass. Judicious pedaling created a lovely, filmy quality in the second movement's plaintive piano chorales and tender melodies ." (Beethoven 4th Piano Concerto with the Springfield Symphony, MA) SPRINGFIELD UNION.
Music Director Thomas Conlin of the Virginia Symphony had this to say about Klein's interpretation of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto: " This was as exciting and dramatic a performance of the Emperor as anyone could ever imagine. I truly hope we can make music together soon again! "
