Spring 2002 Newsletter

Letter from the President:
Welcome to the all-new Master Musicians Collective
I see this newsletter as the beginning of something great for our community and just one more service that makes MMC a unique project to be involved in. I am very proud of what this project has been able to accomplish over the last ten years and I think through all of our dedication to new music and our collaborative efforts, this project will continue to grow and flourish. It is my hope that this newsletter will be a way for MMC to better meet the needs of the people we exist for, and for those people to have a say in shaping the future of this project.
Sincerely,
William Thomas McKinley

June 4th - Berryville, VA (Rose Hill Park) - Barns Festival
By Val Van Meter of The Winchester Star
But the Berryville Barns Festival, set for Friday and Saturday in Rose Hill Park, has embraced that goal, thanks to the Clarke County Litter Prevention and Recycling Committee.
Erika Shriner, chairwoman of the committee, said everything from the plates people eat on to the packaging crafters use will be recycled.
But Barns Festival organizers decided to go for it immediately.
Downtown Berryville Inc. is spearheading an effort to turn two 1920s-era dairy barns in the middle of Berryville into a multi-use cultural center. The festival is the signature fund-raiser for the project.
New Zealand now is hoping to reach zero waste by 2015.
Americans have yet to embrace that concept, Shriner said.
Americans create two to three times as much waste as any other industrial nation and 30 to 60 times as much as developing countries.
The Barns Festival is an opportunity not only to educate the public about waste, but also to show exactly how recycling can be done.
