Thunderboltz Band Member Bios Scott (Klicker) Kassal (Chicago)
Scott was raised in Chicago's Western 'burbs where he started playing bass in high school garage bands. His quest for musical knowledge took him to the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston ('79-'80), and later to Chicago's American Conservatory of Music ('82-'83). In between, he went out on the road with the Country Rock band, Wyld Oates , traveling through the Western U.S. Klicker (he got that moniker from an old band-mate, who said his playing made everything "click"), continued to pursue progressive and Rock-based, Country music upon joining The Phlagg Williams Band in '82. Phlagg, a veteran singer, songwriter, and roadhouse warrior of the time, always seemed to attract the best players in the circuit- one being Doug Mazique , who referred Klicker to Mark Zeus in the fall of '85. In the formative stages of A2Z, Bob Apollo and Curtis Bachman were filling in on bass for various jobbing situations. A2Z landed a regular Thursday night gig at O'Sullivan's Public House on the outskirts of downtown Chicago. Curtis signed on as the bassist, but eventually couldn't do the early set. Zeus, already on the lookout for a permanent bassist, called Dougie for referrals. He gave Zeus several numbers before saying, "How about that Klicker!". Scott, who had been jobbing around with wedding bands since leaving Phlagg in '84, began filling in for the first set at O'Sullivan's and within a month became a regular member of A2Z.

85. Upsets: We've Learned To Expect The Unexpected
It was a twoman race between daniel Day-Lewis his possessions to play real-life pianistWladyslaw Szpilman of Sacheen Littlefeather on behalf of marlon Brando

Upsets: We've learned to expect the unexpected Sunday, February 29, 2004 By Barbara Vancheri, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette In Oscar land, there are snubs, surprises and outright upsets. Barbra Streisand was snubbed when "Yentl" was ignored at nomination time, except for its music, art direction/set decoration and supporting actress Amy Irving. Some observers thought voters did not "Do the Right Thing" by Spike Lee, who wasn't nominated for Best Director. He did compete in the original screenplay category, won by "Dead Poets Society." Snubs are one thing. Surprises give Oscar night a jolt that freezes fingers on the remote or lures viewers away from the mesmerizing sight of microwave popcorn ... popping. But upsets produce gasps among the black-tie audience, stop Academy Award pool participants in their tracks and go down in history books. They're a reward for the East Coast viewers who stay up until midnight or 12:30 a.m. or 1 a.m., when the final thanks of the final acceptance speech is over. Finally. Last year was such a year. Roman Polanski. Adrien Brody. Ronald Harwood. Michael Moore. Eminem. It was a doozy. Here, then, are some of the more notable upsets, keeping in mind that every year produces an upset causing an uproar in the homes of millions of viewers, as favorites fall and dark horses streak across the finish line.

Product Review
You might not get a thrill from the sight of Faye Dunaway and Marlon Brando throwing popcorn into each other's mouths, but that didn't stop this movie from gaining a new lease on life thanks to cable television and home video. It's a quirky romantic comedy about a mental patient (Johnny Depp) who claims to be Don Juan, the world's greatest lover, and he gets quite a few women to believe it's true. Brando plays the psychiatrist who tries to analyze his patient's apparent delusion, and Dunaway plays Brando's wife, who wants to inject some Don Juan-ish romance into their marital routine. Walking a fine line between precious comedy, wistful drama, and delicate fantasy, the movie gets a big dose of charm from its esteemed cast, with Depp delivering dialogue that would have sounded ludicrous from a lesser actor. This may not be a great movie, but it is guaranteed to put you in an amorous mood.

Three Stars Toshiko has led one of the most underrated bands in contemporary jazz history. There is a lot of originality in her music. She and Elaine Elias have contributed so much to the music and have disbursed the notion of feminine as opposed to masculine form of playing the music.
Her collaboration with Lew Tabackin has been a splendid marriage of styles. Lew, with his big and sensual sound on the Tenor saxophone and she with that post Bud Powell feeling. Frank Wess, lends himself for some outstanding solo work to help out.

Day is when a bunch of folks in Punxsutawney, PA get up way before
the crack of dawn, put on tuxedos and fancy gowns, march to the city park, and pull old Punxsutawney Phil out of his little house in a tree trunk. Then they observe him as he goes about doing his groundhog shadow thing. If the woodchuck (aka ground hog) doesn't see his shadow, it means spring is on its way. If the critter sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter, which upsets the folks

TWO MORE ADAPTATION RAVES [November 29, 2002]
Tonnes of news today I'll start with my favourite topic Some more raves turned up for possibly the best movie of the year. I'm scared now actually, the first negative review will come anytime now. All I'll say at this moment is that if Charlie Kauffman doesn't win for Best Screenplay this year (whatever category he's in), I'll kill myself (or try to, at least!!!). This first one is from Entertainment Weekly, where Adaptation gets an A-
"The notion of meta has never been diddled more mega than in this giddy Möbius strip of a movie, a contrivance so whizzy and clever that even when it tangles at the end, murked like swampy southwestern Florida itself, the stumble has quotation marks around it. "Being John Malkovich," it turns out, was no parlor trick: "Adaptation" demonstrates that Kaufman, the real Charlie Kaufman, has a rare and really weird talent not only for finding portals into other people's psyches but also for Silly Puttying his own into the stories he tells. This guy is fun.
