Not only are classical keyboardists Richard and John Contiguglia, age 61, identical twins, so are their older brothers, Louis and Robert Contiguglia (pronounced: Con-ti-GUL-ia). Now based in New York City, the duo pianists return to their hometown Thursday, Oct. 1, for a concert benefiting the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, to be staged at Auburn's East Middle School, 159 Franklin St. Concert organizers wisely scheduled a 7 p.m. performance for the convenience of families with young children, as well as seniors who prefer an early evening and music lovers driving in from Syracuse. Honoring the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin's birth on Sept. 26, 1898, the program opens with the composer's own four-hand setting of his Cuban Overture , followed by En Blanc et Noir by Claude Debussy. Also representing Wells were five students who presented the results of their faculty-sponsored undergraduate research projects. Those students were Katherine Ehrlich, who worked under the direction of Professor Purdy; Robyn Greener, whose research was performed with Professors Schwab and Flowers; Jennifer Kappeller, who worked with Professor Collmer; Melissa Miller, who also worked with Professor Schwab; and Tuesday Tamburri, who worked with Professor Miller-Bernal. Professor Bailey's paper, "The Effect of a Covalently Attached Synergistic Anion on Chelator-Mediated Iron-Release from Ovotransferrin: Additional Evidence for Two Concurrent Pathways," was published in the August 19, 1997, issue of BIOCHEMISTRY. Yesterday I tuned for a duo piano concert featuring renoun Steinway jazz nearly full house and a very appreciative audiance. To say the least these pianist were exceptionally pleasant to work with, and had no complaints regarding the pianos, my tuning, or the regulation/voicing. Has anyone else out there in cyber-land had the opportunity to tune for these guys? I thought I would bring up an interesting and rather unexpected observation. The two pianos that were used, both Ds, are new. One is our house piano, #533099, and the other is a rental from the dealer, #533755. With the serial numbers so close together I would assume that they probably left the factory within a few months from each other. I arrived at the auditorium at 7:00 AM prepared to tune the two pianos matched together. I have done this before several times, the last time
