The three sonatas of Opus 10 were edited from the 'revised' autographs, copies of which were obtained from The British Library (London). To the knowledge of the editor, these revised versions were never published. The original versions of the Opus 10 piano sonatas were composed in 1783. The revisions were made after 1800, according to Tyson's "Thematic Catalogue of the Works of Muzio Clementi." Also included in Volume I are three sonatas, previously unavailable for purchase in modern notation. These sonatas were edited from authentic 19th-century editions. The volume measures 9 x 12.25 and is 'wiro' bound for the pianist's convenience. The sonatas of Volume I will be recorded on the Calcante Records label in the near future. The projected Volume II in this series will contain the earliest surviving composition of Clementi, written in 1775. This sonata, exhibiting incredible stylistic maturity, was edited from the unpublished autograph of the 13-year-old Clementi.
