Back: History 1 History 2 History 3 History 4 ... History 6 W ith the death of Monk Montgomery in 1982, the Las Vegas Jazz Society lost its driving force and the administrative structure gradually dissolved. The Society's spectacular first seven years were over and a ten-year "phase II" began to unfold.
After Monk died LVJS no longer published its newsletter, Think Jazz; in the post-Monk decade, Las Vegas jazz history is recorded in Arts Alive, newsletter of the Allied Arts Council of Southern Nevada. They have given concerts throughout the country for music societies and festivals offering a diverse programme from classics of the wind quintet repertoire through to more adventurous works such as the Poulenc sextet with the international concert pianist John Briggs. back to artists

The great Czech composer, Anton Dvorak, comes incognito to Willow Falls, a settlement of Bohemian lumberman in the Middle West. The real power is Ma Flannagan who is buying up land but concealing the fact that a railroad is to pass right through the town. Her scheme is hindered, however, when her only son falls in love with Karolka, a new and pretty Czech immigrant. Karolka's Uncle Marek also thwarts her plans. Dvorak not only takes a job playing the piano at "Flannagans" but plays poker to pay off Marek's tax debts. He learns from Abe, a negro man of all work, the theme for his New World Symphony. After forcing Ma Flannagan to pay a just price for Marek's land, he smoothes the path of true love between Karolka and Shaun, while enjoying a musical triumph in New York.

SORT BY Title Author Published Date Please be patient. It may take a moment, as our reference library is large. Over one thousand volumes exist in the private library at Kimber Kable. A comprehensive library resource is critical in developing and manufacturing the finest products. Cable manufacture requires significant expertise in many disciplines; plastics, metals, plating, extruding, machining, soldering and magnetics, to name a few. In addition the cable must be tested and evaluated which requires knowledgeable expertise in acoustics, electronics and test instrumentation. The final link is the correlation between tested results and subjective impressions, access to previous research in this area is very important. Products that are developed with a great library resource are much more likely
to be technically advanced, more cost effective and consistently manufactured.

New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus
About Us Each time the NMSO performs a choral work, it joins forces with its dedicated sister organization, the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Who are these people from the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus? They come from all walks of life, bound together by their common love of music. Among their ninety singers, seventeen are professional musicians working in music-related fields. Thirty-seven hold degrees in music, and eleven maintain private teaching studios. It is interesting to note that all ninety singers have studied voice, are currently studying voice, or play an instrument. Some travel from Edgewood, Santa Fe and Socorro to sing in the chorus. Singers must be at least college-age to audition for the NMSO Chorus. In addition to its conductor, the NMSOC is fortunate to have an outstanding staff, including Maribeth Gunning, chorus pianist. An extraordinary keyboard artist, Maribeth plays difficult orchestral reductions with apparent ease. Her phenomenal technical ability and musical sensitivity are exceptional gifts to the chorus. This highly select chorus enjoys the sense of accomplishment and exhilaration that come from collaborating with our excellent orchestra. The 2002-2003 season marked the 30

Tarras is a young band from the Scots/English Borders. Their love of their region's traditional music is matched by their awareness of other contemporary forms, from blues to '90s dance music. 'Consummately respectful of the history which has spawned their music, they nevertheless put different spins on it at every turn. An absurdly fine debut album.' - Folk Roots TARRAS WALKING DOWN MAIN STREET Tarras return for their second album with a slightly changed line-up based around the core members Joss Clapp, Ben Murray and John Redfern. The album is produced by Richard Evans and features the band's original compositions alongside their re-workings of traditional material. " ..... a superb new album" Mojo Magazine
