81. On-Cue Profile - Alfredo Perl
At only thirty years of age, PolishHungarian pianist piotr Anderszewskiis already ranked amongst the great musical artists of his time.

He plays with imagination and sensitivity, he exudes personal charisma and he looks on the concert platform the way most movie stars would like to appear on screen. At only thirty years of age, Polish-Hungarian pianist Piotr Anderszewski is already ranked amongst the great musical artists of his time. Geoffrey Norris, the UK Daily Telegraph's critic, enthused after he heard Anderszewski at Wigmore Hall: "[He] is an artist of such phenomenal gifts that he ought, by rights, to have audiences clamouring for seats, even if he chose to play at three o'clock in the morning in the Outer Hebrides." With critics consistently commenting on his mercurial intelligence, fierce individuality and boundless imagination, Piotr Anderszewski will make his Australian debut with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in 2001 - this will undoubtedly be an absorbing experience. A recent recording of Bach on Harmonia Mundi has been praised to the heights ('he makes musical complexity seem poetic and poetry sound heaven sent') , and a new TV documentary based around his performance of Beethoven's Diabelli Variations

opuscds.com review
In his first recording for Virgin Classics the extraordinarily gifted Polish-Hungarian pianist Piotr Anderszewski performs the work with which he has been most closely associated since the beginning of his career: Beethoven’s fiendishly difficult Diabelli Variations. Anderszewski’s very personal identification with this piano masterpiece has been documented by film-maker Bruno Monsaingeon, whose recent television film includes footage of the making of this recording.
‘A pianist of inspirational brilliance.’ The Guardian

OTHER NEWS:
A new set of Three Dances composed by Juliusz ZAREBSKI (1854-1885) and orchestrated by Franz LISZT, was found in Brussels among family papers of Ernest Vanderlinden (a descendent of Franz Servais, a student of Liszt). Zarebski also studied with Liszt and the music journal Strings reports that this "manuscript may have been Liszt’s last work before his death."
According to the BBC Music Journal (September issue), two Polish pianists figure in the "Who's Who in Music?" list. Krystian ZIMERMAN as part of the "establishment" and Piotr ANDERSZEWSKI as "new blood" coming in. Bravo for Piotr! I remember him when he was a student at USC. He and his sister, violinist Dorota, gave many memorable performances for the Polish-American community in southern California. They were especially electrifying in their rendition of Hungarian music (their mother is Hungarian).

CHAMBER MUSIC’S INTIMATE AND ABSORBING FEELING
A solo recital, and a voice-piano trio and duet at the Experimental theatre: three rendezvous with the finest chamber music - with Piotr Anderszewski (January 26), the Beaux-Arts Trio (February 7), Stephen Genz and Michel Dalberto (February 23) The three concerts preceding the second rendezvous of the season at Le Muse to be presented by our Amici della Musica (violinist Shlomo Minz and pianist Itamar Golan), comprise, in my opinion, Chamber Music’s most intimate emotions. They highlight a few of its many fine examples, and in three of its possible combinations: the solo recital, as well as the voice-piano trio and duet. The first in this series of concerts features the young Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski , the most recent recipient of the Gilmore Prize. The program the young maestro will play is not unusual, but will nonetheless remain “original”. It is not common to have
