Trio. Vocalist, piano, bass, drums. January 12, 2005. eugene albulescu.Classical pianist. February 23, 2005. Los Llaneros (Calle Sur).
http://www.rbernardo.com/otherrb/concertassoc.htm
The Bernardo Concerts Association is a non-profit organization of volunteers serving area residents since 1975. Year after year, outstanding musical performances have enriched the communities of Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Carmel Mountain Ranch and Rancho Penasquitos. The enthusiasm and response of the public is indicated in the high percentage of renewals each season. The appreciation of good music is also fostered in students throughout the Poway Unified School District. The number of annual subscriptions reaches the maximum every year. All concerts are held in the Poway Center for the Performing Arts at 15498 Espola Road in Poway. All performances are at 8:00 p.m. Admission is by subscription only. The largest consolidated artist lists in the United States are made available to the Association, from which performances are selected annually. There is an inevitable relationship between the quality of performances and the cost. Since the objective of the Bernardo Concerts Association is to offer the best available artists at reasonable cost, additional funding above basic subscriptions is necessary. This is attained through the Patron Program. Selected businesses and professionals donate generously, as do many individual members.
2004-2005 Program
All concerts will be on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 P.M. Season tickets $50.00

Musician and composer Bill Warfield lives for the kind of event that is unfolding next weekend at Lehigh University's Zoellner Arts Center.
Since he came to Lehigh in 1997 and started the Lehigh Valley Jazz Repertory Orchestra, which performs at the center, Warfield also has wanted to create original programming for the center.
In a way, he's already accomplished some of that. The debut performance of the repertory orchestra in October 1997 featured an extended Warfield composition, `Le Jazz Hot,` based on the Parisian jazz of the 1920s and featuring David Liebman, the internationally known saxophonist who lives in the Stroudsburg area.
Next weekend's events will begin Friday with another original Warfield composition, `Beneath The Stacks: The Second Line of the Industrial Revolution,` based on the history of Bethlehem, from its earliest days as a Moravian settlement to the aftermath of Bethlehem Steel's departure from the city.
To add excitement, members of the respected jazz group the Yellowjackets will join members of Warfield's Repertory Orchestra, Lehigh faculty members and Lehigh students in the ensemble that will debut the Warfield piece.

The Board of Trustees has scheduled four meetings with the congregation to discuss bylaw changes proposed by a special committee of the board. Two of the meetings will be held between Sunday services - on Feb. 18 and Feb. 25. Meetings will be held after the second Sunday service on Feb. 25 and March 4. The Board of Trustees will use the hearings to determine its position on the various recommendations from the special panel that spent much of last year giving MVUC's bylaws their first major review in decades. Thus far, the board has only reviewed the recommendations. Copies of the committee's recommendations have been available in the Commons for weeks. Alternative proposals reviewed by the board on several items will also be available in the Commons in time for the bylaws meetings with the congregation. The Board of Trustees scheduled the bylaw review meetings during its Feb. 5 regular meeting, which included final approval of an MVUC Employee Handbook that provides guidelines on all aspects of employment at the church. The handbook has been the major work of the Personnel Committee and other volunteers for many months.

New Zealanders Commemorate National Day in Salt Lake City
February 6, 2002
New opera sensation, Jonathan Fa'afetai Lemalu joined other New Zealanders in performing a New Zealand musical showcase to an eager Salt Lake City public. Marking New Zealand's National day (Waitangi Day - February 6), tickets to the event had sold out two months beforehand, and it was standing room only in the 2000 seat Assembly Hall. New Zealand Ambassador in Washington, John Wood, joined guests of honour at the Salt Lake City Concert. Other New Zealand artists joining Lemalu, were Maori soprano Marie Adele MacArthur, Romanian-born New Zealand pianist Eugene Albulescu, and highly acclaimed musician and Associate Professor of Music Terence Dennis of the University of Otago. Among the guests of honour were New Zealand's Minister of Sport, the Hon Trevor Mallard, and the New Zealand Winter Olympic team. All musicians paid tribute to their country and the New Zealand people in their performances. Lemalu sang "Sea Fever" - a moving tribute to New Zealand's greatest ever yachtsman, Sir Peter Blake, tragically killed off the coast of Brazil in 2001. The evening concluded with a rousing Maori welcome, challenge and waiata (singing) by the Salt Lake City Maori Kapa Haka group.

36. Future Piano
But if you re enough of a pianist to be able to appreciate the with clients, saysChris Solliday, technician for Keith Jarrett, eugene albulescu, Fred Hersch
http://www.iaekm.org/0107_fe1.html
Future Piano
by Ernie Rideout Want to vastly improve your piano's action and tone, turn your piano into a computer music workstation, or take a lesson with a teacher 3,000 miles away? It's not the future we're talking about. The multitude of star-studded celebrations and exhibits honoring the tercentennial of the piano have amazed us with the beauty, tradition, and music of the piano. The instrument is, quite simply, a technical marvel. The influence it has had on the course of Western music history is immense. That's nice. So what's happened lately to bring the piano into the 21st Century? Plenty. You may not be able to tell at a glance the difference between the piano of the future and those of previous centuries, but the results of these under-the-hood improvements are mind-blowing. Imagine being able to change the feel of your piano's action as easily as dialing up a velocity curve on a digital piano. Or take a lesson in real time from a distant teacher as easily as getting your email. And that's just for starters. The biggest news is that the piano of the future is the one already in your living room, studio, or rehearsal hall. You can add almost all of the innovations in this article to your piano as retrofits. These aren't quick fixes, however. Nothing mentioned below will cover up poor playing technique, obviate the need for good in-person piano instruction, or eliminate quality piano regulation and voicing. Quite the contrary. But if you're enough of a pianist to be able to appreciate the improvements that these systems can bring to an instrument, they may inspire you to new heights of achievement and musical satisfaction. If you're just starting out, they can remove some of the obstacles that playing on a poorly regulated instrument can put in your path. In all cases, the idea is to get the most out of your instrument and your technique for the sake of your music. Now that's a future we can use.
