About HyperPhysics
Rationale for Development
Part of the intent for this exploration environment is to provide many opportunities for numerical exploration in the form of active formuli and standard problems implemented in Javascript. An active exploration in physics will typically lead you to something which needs to be quantified, and it is hoped that the many Javascript-enabled calculations will provide many opportunities to answer "What if .." type questions. New content for HyperPhysics will be posted as it is developed. The intent is to maintain the entire HyperPhysics project on the Web with stable locations so that links to it may be established with confidence that they will be there for an extended period of time. As the basic phase nears completion, the author is interested in extensions to specific applied areas. If you are interested in developing specific material for a specialized course, you might consider building it upon this framework with links to HyperPhysics to provide the basic conceptual background. The entire HyperPhysics project can be made available on a cross-platform CD ROM since it will remain compatible with the standard web browsers.

Welcome to the
Multimedia Physics Studios
The Multimedia Physics Studios consists of a collection of GIF animations and accompanying explanations of major physics concepts. The animations cover common physics principles discussed in a first-year high school physics course. The animation and discussion have been written specifically for high school physics students. While the animations provide a strong visual reinforcement of physics concepts, they are not interactive. Interactive Shockwave animations are currently under construction; an initial preview of such files can be found at the Shockwave Physics Studios . Related information and discussion of physics concepts can be found at this same site in The Physics Classroom

Many biological phenomena are especially remarkable from a physical point of view. This year's lectures will focus on biological networks. Topics are chosen to illustrate the opportunities for research at the interface of physics and biology, especially the convergence of theoretical issues and new experimental insights. The orientation is toward graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with a physics background. Lectures will be held at NEC Research Institute and students will be housed at Princeton University.
