He was not a scholar nor a lettered man, but simply a craftsman shoemaker. His illuminations on the being of God, the fall and the redemption of man, the law of opposites, and the hidden principals in creation., are rivaled by none, even to this day. His writings are often difficult to follow, partly due to his lack of formal education, and also to his use of alchemical terminology, which was the scientific chemistry of his medieval times. His writings are nevertheless compelling, filled with illumination, and charged with passionate spirituality. Jacob Boehme was highly influential on subsequent thinkers, including William Law, Dionysius Freher, Nicolas Berdyrev, Soloviev, Hegel, Schelling, William Blake, Isaac Newton, Franz von Baader, and George Fox, the founder of the Quakers. Just remember, so narrow is the gate that leads to the real divine truth that no self-sufficiency can ever enter in. This Site was created and is maintained by Esprit Systems, Inc

83. Jacob Boehme And The Secret Doctrine- A Theosophical Article By William Q. Judge
jacob boehme AND THE SECRET DOCTRINE. jacob boehme (or as some say Behmen) was a German mystic and spiritualist who began to write in the 17th century.
http://www.blavatsky.net/theosophy/judge/articles/jacob-boehme-and-sd.htm
JACOB BOEHME AND THE
SECRET DOCTRINE
Boehme was poor, of common birth, and totally devoid of ordinary education. He was only a shoemaker. Yet from the mind and out of the mouth of this unlettered man came mighty truths. It would be idle to inquire into the complications of Karma which condemned him to such a life as his appeared to be. It must have been extremely curious, because though he had grasped the truth and was able to appreciate it, yet at the same time he could not give it out in its perfection. But he performed his work, and there can be no manner of doubt about his succeeding incarnation. As Krishna says in the Bhagavad-Gita, he has been already or will shortly be "born into a family of wise devotees"; and thence "he will attain the highest walk." His life and writings furnish another proof that the great wisdom-religion-the Secret Doctrine-has never been left without a witness. Born a Christian, he nevertheless saw the esoteric truth lying under the moss and crust of centuries, and from the Christian Bible extracted for his purblind fellows those pearls which they refused to accept. But he did not get his knowledge from the Christian Scriptures only. Before his internal eye the panorama of real knowledge passed. His interior vision being open he could see the things he had learned in a former life, and at first not knowing what they were was stimulated by them to construe his only spiritual books in the esoteric fashion. His brain took cognizance of the Book before him, but his spirit aided by his past, and perchance by the living guardians of the shinning lamp of truth, could not but read them aright.

Esoteric Masters Jacob Boehme by Waterfield, Robin $14.95, 240 pp., ISBN: 1556433573 North Atlantic Books , 3/1/2001 , Paperback Long Description
Highly regarded among Christian mystics, Jacob Boehme (1575-1624) was famous for his inspired and provocative analysis of the nature and being of God. Grounded in Paracelsus, the Kabbala, astrology, alchemy, and the Hermetic tradition, Boehme articulated a revelatory theology which emphasized the process whereby God comes to know Himself. Boehme reasoned that from His illimitable oneness, God was unable to truly apprehend Himself as God in all His splendor. Thus, God had to become an incarnated, limited being, for only through experience could He satisfy His need for self-understanding. This anthology serves as an introduction to Boehme’s thought. Part One gives biography and context of Boehme’s writings and their influence on later scientists, alchemical researchers, and poets. Part Two contains selections from Boehme’s works grappling with his main themes, including the birth of God and the vindication of His goodness. Robin Waterfield, editor Reviews

It is very gratifying to see Sparrow's translation of Boehme's "Morgenrote am Aufgang" in print again. Jacob Boehme, the shoemaker from Gorlitz whose life was forever altered by a visionary experience, captured the imagination of Emerson and other Transcendentalist writers. Boehme saw nature as a reflection/representation of God's plan, a concept which American thinkers found congenial to their intrinsically optimistic world-view. "Aurora" was most likely first introduced into the U.S. by Ger...

A Renaissance Of Hope Jacob Boehme (1575-1624)
(aka Behmen, Bewman)
Resource Page
Mankind is like a tree with many branches, for all men have only one life
...Although each branch differs somewhat from the others,
yet all have the same vital sap, and so it is with every fellow creature,
whether he be Jew or Christian, Turk or heathen.
Truly there is only one God, who sustains us all,
and when your eyes are opened to see Him,
then you will also see all men as your brothers,
whether they be Christians or Jews, Turks or heathen.
Surely you dont think that God is only the Christians God? No, the heathen too live in God; whoever does right is pleasing and dear to him. A true Christian is not a mere historical new man, he is the crown of the great work of spiritual alchemy. Christian history is only the Cradle of the Child, ...within which the law of regeneration is perpetually manifested, and the heavenly man, ...is brought forth in the world of time. We wish the Lip-Christians might find (this) by experiencing in themselves, and so pass from the history into the substance.
