Tsinghua News Weekly No.93 June 16,1998 Professor Chen Ning Yang was invited to be an honorary professor of Tsinghua On the afternoon of June 14, Tsinghua held a ceremony for inviting Prof. Chen Ning Yang to be an honorary professor of Tsinghua University. President Wang Dazhong conferred the letter of appointment to Prof. Chen Ning Yang. Prof. Yang graduated from Southwest Associated University in 1942, and then went to study in US. He won Nobel Prize of physics in 1957. Prof. Yang has been awarded many famous prizes and honorary titles. He is a member of US Academy of Sciences and was elected as a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. Prof. Yang has spent large efforts to help to establish the Center of Advance Study at Tsinghua. At the ceremony, Prof. Chen Ning Yang gave an emotional speech to show his willingness to assist Tsinghua to develop a top level Science School. More than 200 students and teachers attended the ceremony and listened to his lecture "Bose-Einstein Condensation of Dilute Hard-ball Gas".
