Phillip emigrated with his family when he was 17 to New Zealand, where he fronted Shazam , a pop music show. Further radio and TV jobs followed during the next three years. Shortly after returning to the UK, he began presenting programme links for Children's BBC from the "broom cupboard", in conjuction with a puppet called Gordon the Gopher. His other shows included quiz The Movie Game and later Saturday-morning show Going Live!. A mish-mash of different ITV projects - from holiday shows to documentaries - haven't particularly done him justice, with the exception of Talking Telephone Numbers which ran for a credible five series. A surprise hit in the theatre in Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat (he took over the title role from Jason Donovan), he returned to the stage in the acclaimed Doctor Dolittle Phillip Schofield was the first in-vision presenter to link the famous weekday afternoon programmes slots Sharp, Pat

William J. Rutter. William J. Rutter, 2003
In 1981 Rutter cofounded Chiron, a leading biotechnology company dedicated to preventing and treating disease worldwide. He served as chairman of its board from its inception until 1999. He has also served on the Board of Overseers of Harvard University, the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, and several private company boards. He has received many honors, including the Heinz Award for Technology, the Economy, and Employment.

Walter Gilbert and Phillip A. Sharp, 2002
Walter Gilbert, a molecular biologist, shared the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1980 for his development of a method for determining the sequence of nucleotide links in the chainlike molecules of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). He developed the technique of using gel electrophoresis to read the nucleotide sequences of DNA segments. In 1979 he joined a group of other scientists and businessmen, including Phillip A. Sharp, to form Biogen, a commercial genetic-engineering research corporation. Gilbert resigned from Biogen in 1984 and, while continuing to teach at Harvard, became a chief proponent of the Human Genome Project.
Phillip Sharp shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine (with Richard J. Roberts) for the discovery of "split genes." Sharp and Roberts independently discovered that individual genes are often interrupted by long sections of DNA that do not encode protein structure. In 1977 Sharp and his team found that the messenger RNA of an adenovirus corresponds to four separate, discontinuous segments of DNA, and that the segments of DNA that code for proteins are separated by long stretches of DNA that do not contain genetic information. Sharp did his prize-winning research at the MIT.

Seager, D.W. In the past, Seager has been credited with the first successful daguerreotype taken in the U.S. He brought a copy of Daguerre's Manual to S.F.B. Morse. One of Seager's daguerreotypes was reported on display September 30, 1839. He lectured on the process as early as October 5, 1839, and may have had John Johnson in his audience. He claimed to have made a daguerreotype on September 16, 1839. Nothing more is known of Seager; he apparently worked as an adviser to the Mexican government on economics from c. 1857 to c. 1867. 72. CP Molecular Biology - Foreword
The excellent group of young scientists who have contributed to this book are representativesof this tradition. phillip A. sharp Cambridge, Massachusetts.
    http://www.wiley.com/cp/cpmb/mbforewd.htm
FOREWORD The breadth of knowledge required for modern research in molecular biology is truly staggering. A single series of experiments can encompass genetic manipulation of specific bacterial strains and their phage, the appropriate use of several highly specific enzymes, and the culturing and genetic engineering of mammalian cells. For individuals who have followed the evolution of research in molecular biology, it was surprising to watch the mammalian l immunoglobulin gene being cloned in the prokaryotic l phage. Neither immunologists nor bacterial geneticists expected the ultimate union when the phage and gene were named. Now a single individual must master both fields to be successful. Research that depends upon such breadth of knowledge needs protocol books that explain why certain methods are used and provide references for further reading. This manual fulfills that need. All scientists realize that they figuratively stand on the shoulders of their predecessors. Nothing more concretely reflects this dependence than a laboratory protocol book. It is a monument to the hours of labor that students, technicians and other professionals have expended in developing methods that work every time. Good methods have another characteristic: they have been honed to the minimum of time and effort required to achieve the desired results. Most investigators collect personal protocol books of tried and true recipes. This new manual with its continuously growing and evolving set of protocols is an excellent basis from which to begin such a collection.

    Brief Description:
The research in my laboratory is directed at understanding the processes involved in specifying the sites of splicing within a pre-mRNA and the mechanism of the splicing reactions. A few years ago, we identified a previously unsuspected second class of introns within eukaryotic genes. Subsequent work has shown that this second class is widely distributed in nature and must have been present in the eukaryotic genome for at least a billion years. More recent work has led us to argue that both classes of introns were present in one of the earliest ancestors of eukaryotic organisms.

YOU ARE HERE: Conversely ~ Personals ~ Memoirs Featured Artist I've been feeling like time hasn't gotten away from me yet, but it sure is passing. Some days I rebel against all the ways marriage softens and humbles you, makes you more human. There is something holy in a twosome, a deep satisfaction, the sense of something completed.
    Cleaving November 1, 2000
The tides of a marriage by Naomi Johnson Reader rating:
Have you ever thought about the word 'cleave'? It's one of those funny words, the kind that is its own antonym. First you cleave together - husband and wife, cleaving unto one another - and then you cleave apart, a crack down the middle of a marriage that splits the unity back into two. Think of the cleft in the rock, or the cloven hoof. I've been thinking about it, because last weekend, as it turned out, two of our couple friends cleaved. In opposite senses. On Friday afternoon, our next-door neighbor, Sunshine - the one who lives in the octagon house and snacks on dandelions - told Tom and I that she and Phillip had done the deed. Or, rather, undone it. She told us this with a beatific smile on her face, the way she says everything: 'I wanted to let you guys know, Phillip and I went ahead and separated.' Smiling, smiling. We were standing in her dusty driveway in the blazing June sun, around the side of the barn where their mountain bikes and kayaks are stored. She had her wide straw hat on, the one she wears for gardening; I noticed some little weathered crinkles at the corners of her eyes. She looked - not exactly aging, but not quite young any more. The same way I've been feeling. Like time hasn't gotten away from me yet, but it sure is passing.
