some of the fullest percussion that you’ve ever heard and he does it on a 5 piece trap. Couple of extra cymbals but hey, 5 piece trap. That’s all I got to say. He is all rims, and cymbals, and got that beat going and everybody’s going on doing their own funky thing and then all of a sudden, bang! Johnny brings everybody back together on time, in sync with one drop of the stick. AMAZING. George is a number one player too. Got to be one of the kings of the funky bass. Tonight he sounded different. When I’ve seen him in the past he’s been all popping, and funky and fooling around but tonight he was jazzy George. And it was cool. That’s the only way I can describe the sound. June wailing away on guitar, Johnny doing the drum thing so well, and George. Playing slick and smooth. The second set was equally as much fun with June doing some perfect Hendrix (Purple Haze) and George turning into a cross between Otis Redding and Sly. These were some players who were having a good time. So were we. Personally I don’t get to see a lot of that New Orleans kind of sound around here so when guys like this play I make every effort to go out and see them. This was most certainly worth a trip.

Obituary: Lord Porter of Luddenham, OM, FRS
Former Chancellor of the University of Leicester, Lord Porter of Luddenham, OM, FRS, died on Saturday, August 31, aged 81. The University’s third Chancellor, he served between 1984 and 1995. One of the most highly regarded and well-known scientists in Britain, and a Nobel prize-winner, he had a gift for communicating his enthusiasm for science. It was for his work on techniques for observing and studying extremely fast chemical reactions during the processes of combustion, explosion and chain reaction that, with his Cambridge colleague Professor Ronald Norrish, and with the German scholar Manfred Eigen, he shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1967. Porter and Norrish developed flash photolysis, using pulses of light even shorter than the reactions they sought to study, to open up a window onto a hitherto impenetrable world.
Lord Porter of Luddenham, OM, FRS Underpinning Porter’s science was a bedrock of everyday reality, and a profound concern for the future of mankind and the interlinked physical and biological systems of the planet. If the processes of photosynthesis could be unravelled, then mankind might be able to solve its energy problems and look forward to a truly sustainable future. Far from being remote these considerations were basic, and the questions posed were those that any child might ask. Thus Porter’s great interest in encouraging young people to understand science followed naturally from his academic study.

The First Lord of the Treasury is the head of the commission exercising the ancient office of Lord High Treasurer in the United Kingdom , usually but not always the Prime Minister edit
    The Lords of the Treasury
Beginning in the 17th Century, the Treasury was frequently entrusted to a commission, rather than to a single individual, and after , it was always in commission. The commissioners were referred to as Lords Commissioners of the Treasury , and given a number based on seniority. Eventually, the First Lord of the Treasury came to be seen as the natural head of any ministry, and from Robert Walpole on, began to be known, unofficially, as the prime minister . Before 1827, the First Lord of the Treasury, when a commoner, also held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer , while if the First Lord was a peer, the 2nd Lord would usually serve as Chancellor. Since 1827, the Chancellor of the Exchequer has always been Second Lord of the Treasury when he has not also been the Prime Minister. By convention, the other Lords Commissioners of the Treasury are the Government's Whips in the House of Commons edit

    Research Results
This project is intended to elucidate the mechanisms which control the efficiency of the photosynthetic light reactions in green plants.
The progress made this year in outlined below.
  • We have located, by single particle analysis, some of the most important subunits in photosystem II (PS2) and provided a strong evidence that a substantial fraction of PS2 in vivo is dimeric. In PS1 the cytochrome c- binding subunit F has been located.
  • Electron diffraction from two dimensional crystals of PS2 has been analyzed to obtain projection maps with a resolution 8 angstrom.
  • The kinetic model of the isolated PS2 reaction center (RC) is now completed. The radical pair formation proceeds via creation of high energy radical pair state (21 picosecond (ps) time constant). Full relaxation of the charge separated state takes nearly 100ps.

Wright Choreographer - Megan McGill Play Synopsis : “High Society” is the musical version of “The Philadelphia Story” with music by Cole Porter. This version of the play uses songs from the 1950’s movie version with several added Porter classics. Tracy Lord was married briefly to C.K. Dexter Haven, but divorced him because she was intolerant of his drinking. Now she is preparing to marry again, to George Kitteredge, a self-made man who came up from the mines and wants to join upper society. Tracy’s father is a womanizer currently having an affair with a Broadway actress. A scandal sheet is prepared to publish an article about Mr. Lord. In an attempt to stop the article, Dexter arranges for a writer and photographer from the paper (Mike and Liz) to attend the wedding. Dexter also comes back. Tracy begins to see how her high standards have made her cold and rigid, that she has been lacking “an understanding heart.”

Chapter XXIX Continuation of the Life of Lord Chancellor Porter From His Appointment by Wing William III. till his Death. Sir Charles Porter returned to practice at the English Bar during the interval between his losing the Great Seal of Ireland in 1686, and regaining it in 1690. Lord Clarendon, in his Diary, January 1689, says: 'I was at the Temple with Mr. Roger North and Sir Charles Porter, who were the only two honest lawyers I ever met with.' This last remark is not very complimentary to the profession to which the writer's father belonged. It must have been a great relief to a lover of peace, and of studious research, like Porter, to rest for a time in the congenial cloisters of the Temple, far from the anxieties, cares, and worry, of a Lord Chancellor during this turbulent period of Irish politics. After an interval of about three years, he was, once more, summoned from his quiet chambers to hold the Irish Seal. Within that brief space what important events occurred! A dynasty had fallen; the country he had left witnessed a short pageant of a King occupying Dublin Castle, holding a Parliament in the capital of his remaining kingdom, two others having very properly signified their disinclination longer to acknowledge his sway, and he very readily took the hint. 'Articles agreed upon the third day of October 1691, by the Right Honourable Sir Charles Porter, Knight, and Thomas Coningsby, Esq., Lords Justices of Ireland, and His Excellency Baron De Ginckle, Lieutenant-General, and Commander-in-Chief of the English Army, on the one part; and the right Honourable Patrick Earl of Lucan, Percy Viscount Galmoy, Colonel Nic Purcell, Colonel Dillon, and Colonel John Browne, on the other side. On the behalf of the Irish inhabitants in the city and county of Limerick, the counties of Clare, Cork, Kerry, Sligo, and Mayo, in consideration of the surrender of the city of Limerick, and other agreements made between the said Lieutenant-General Ginckle, the Governor of the city of Limerick, and the Generals of the Irish army, bearing date with these presents for the surrender of the said city and the submission of the said army. It is agreed, that
