Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran war in Paris am 18. Juni 1845 im Haus geboren, das fruher No 19 war, bereuen de l'Est aber wurde spater, als dieser Bezirk, ein Hotel an No 125, Boulevard St wieder aufgebaut wurde. Michel. Sowohl sein Vater als auch vaterlicher Gro?vater waren medizinische Manner. Sein Vater, Dr Louis Theodore Laveran, war ein Armeearzt und ein Professor am Ecole de Val-de-Grace, seine Mutter, nee Guenard de la Tour, war die Tochter und Enkelin von hohen Armeebefehlshabern. Als er sehr jung war, ging Alphonse mit seiner Familie zu Algeria. Sein Vater kehrte nach Frankreich als Professor am Ecole de Val-de-Grace zuruck, von denen er Direktor mit der Reihe des Medizinischen Armeeinspektors wurde. 1882 ging er nach Rom mit dem speziellen Ziel des Suchens im Blut von Patienten, die angesteckt mit Sumpffieber im Roman Campagna, die Parasiten geworden waren, die er im Blut von Patienten in Algeria gefunden hatte. Seine Forschungen, getan am San Spirito Krankenhaus, bestatigten ihm nach der Meinung, dass die Blutparasiten, die er beschrieben hatte, tatsachlich die Ursache des Sumpffiebers waren. Seine ersten Kommunikationen auf den Sumpffieber-Parasiten wurden mit viel Skepsis erhalten, aber allmahlich confirmative Forschungen wurden von Wissenschaftlern jedes Landes und 1889 veroffentlicht, die Akademie von Wissenschaften erkannte ihn der Breant Preis fur seine Entdeckung zu, die von dieser Zeit nicht diskutiert der Malariaparasiten war. 1884 wurde er Professor der Militarischen Hygiene am Ecole de Val-de-Grace ernannt.

Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran 18. Juni in Paris 18. Mai ebenfalls in Paris ) war ein französischer Mediziner und erhielt den Nobelpreis für Medizin Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran beschäftigte sich vor allem nach seiner Zeit als Militärarzt mit der Tropenkrankheit Malaria und ihrer Auslöser. In Algerien gelang es ihm, im Blut von Krankheitsopfern die ersten Erreger zu isolieren und zu beschreiben. Diese Entdeckung brachte ihm den ersten internationalen Ruhm. Später arbeitete er mit vielen anderen Kollegen an der Erforschung weiterer Krankheitserreger, vor allem an Trypanosomen. Dabei beschäftigte er sich zuerst mit den Trypanosomen in verschiedenen Tieren wie Vögeln, Fischen, Schildkröten, Weidevieh und später auch mit denen, die Krankheiten beim Menschen auslösen wie Nagana und Surra und vor allem die berüchtigte Schlafkrankheit. Besonders seine Arbeiten über Trypanosomas gambiense führten zu bedeutenden Ergebnissen.

    Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran was born in Paris on June 18, 1845 in the house which was formerly No. 19 rue de l'Est but later became, when this district was rebuilt, an hotel at No. 125, Boulevard St. Michel.
    In 1894, his period of office as professor having ended, he was appointed Chief Medical Officer of the military hospital at Lille and then Director of Health Services of the 11th Army Corps at Nantes. He had neither a Laboratory nor patients, but he wished to continue his scientific investigations. He now held the rank of Principal Medical Officer of the First Class and in 1896 he entered the Pasteur Institute Ronald Ross , he played a large part in the enquiry on the relationships between Anopheles and malaria in the campaign undertaken against endemic disease in swamps, notably in Corsica and Algeria.
    Since 1900, he especially studied the trypanosomes and published either independently or in collaboration with others, a large number of papers on these blood parasites. He successively studied: the trypanosomes of the rat, the trypanosomes that cause Nagana and Surra, the trypanosome of horses in Gambia, a trypanosome of cattle in the Transvaal, the trypanosomiases of the Upper Niger, the trypanosomes of birds, Chelonians, Batrachians and Fishes and finally and especially the trypanosome which causes the terrible endemic disease of Equatorial Africa known as sleeping sickness. His work (not completed) on the treatment of trypanosomiases and especially on infections with
