Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A
(Physical Metallurgy and Materials Science) publishes contributions monthly on all aspects of physical metallurgy and materials science, with a special emphasis on relationships among the processing, structure, and properties of materials. All papers, including symposia contributions, are reviewed by a committee consisting of one member of the Board of Review and one or two other reviewers. The Instructions for Authors gives detailed instructions for submission of manuscripts. Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B (Process Metallurgy and Materials Processing Science) publishes contributions bi-monthly on the theoretical and engineering aspects of the processing of metals and other materials, including studies of electro- and physical chemistry, mass transport, modeling, and related computer applications. The editorial offices and staff for the journal are located in the Materials Science and Engineering Department of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He married JANE LAUGHLIN January 13, 1833 in Ross County, Ohio(17). She was born in 1809 and died in 1887. Notes for HUGH MOFFITT: Henry Republican, June 25, 1874 Death of S. M. Clark. In making a short cut, he passed over Mr. E. Calef's pasture, through Hugh Moffitt's corn field and out into his meadow, and while clambering up rising ground, towards his own pasture some 80 rods distance, he fell forward onto his face, whre he lay, apparently without having stirred a muscle, lying just as he fell. .... Mr. Hugh Moffitt went down and examined, and found the body dead. He then called Justice J. P. Swift and others, who on turning over the body discovered the lifeless remains of their old friend and neighbor, Stephen M. NSF-Funded Nobel Prize Winners in Science Through 2003
October 2003 The National Science Foundation (NSF) was established in 1950 "to promote the progress of science" and today funds more than 10,000 new awards each year in fulfilling that mission. NSF selects projects through a time-tested process of merit review, and the success of that process is reflected, in part, in the number of NSF-supported scientists recognized for their discoveries. In particular, NSF takes great pride in the remarkable achievements by U.S. and U.S.-based researchers that have received Nobel Prizes and the many who have been supported by NSF grants throughout their careers. NSF's contributions are significant considering the agency's size and the foundation's support for fundamental research in many disciplines relative to agencies focused on a specific mission such as health, defense or energy. NSF's share of federal funding for basic academic research in physical sciences (including physics and chemistry) is 35 percent, non-health-related biology is 65 percent and non-health-related social sciences is 84 percent. Research Interests
Current research is primarily high-temperature superconductivity theory. Recent work includes model studies of doped Mott insulators, computation spectroscopic quantities optical conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, photoemission from first principles, and development of new mathematical methods based on the fractional quantum Hall effect. These include the use of condensed matter lattice gauge theories, the use of quasiparticles carrying fractional quantum numbers, and the application of conventional Feynman rules to systems containing both. Other interests include the theory of metals, localization, and quantum chaos. physics beyond the Standard Model, and vacuum structure of field theories.

En voici le résumé : " The fractional quantum Hall effect is important because it shows experimentally that particles carrying an exact fraction of the electron charge and interacting by means of gauge forces not postulated in the underlying equations of motion can arise spontaneously as a collective effect of ordinary electrons obeying the ordinary laws of quantum mechanics. I will review the history of the discovery and eventual explanation of the effect, and then discuss the larger implications for physics. " Source : Gilles Pelloille, responsable des communications
