Home Klaus von Klitzing Aus der Rede des Nobelpreisträgers für Physik auf der Kundgebung der Friedensbewegung am 13.6 in Bonn Gerade Wissenschaftler haben mehrfach Vorschläge gemacht, wie man auf eine realistische Art und Weise Wege aus dem Wettrüsten finden kann. Beim internationalen Friedenskongreß der Naturwissenschaftler im November letzten Jahres in Hamburg wurden z.B. ausgewogene Vorschläge zur Abrüstung unterbreitet, wobei ein wesentlicher Punkt eine einschneidende Verringerung der Zahl der Atomwaffen war. Friedenssicherung bedeutet nicht nur die Reduzierung von Waffen, sondern hauptsächlich auch die Abschaffung von Feindbildern. Jeder Einzelne kann versuchen, dazu beizutragen, und ich glaube, die internationale Zusammenarbeit auf dem Gebiet der wissenschaftlichen Grundlagenforschung könnte ein Vorbild sein. Hier wird über politische und ideologische Grenzen hinweg zusammengearbeitet, und der persönliche Kontakt ist der beste Weg zum Abbau von Feindbildern. In gewisser Weise bin ich stolz, daß gerade meine Forschungsarbeiten in das Arbeitsprogramm eines Weltlaboratoriums aufgenommen wurden, welches voraussichtlich in Moskau am Leninsky Prospect. 9 seinen Sitz haben wird. Eine Aufgabe der Weltlaboratorien ist es, durch internationale Zusammenarbeit dem Frieden zu dienen.

von Klitzing, Klaus-Olaf Nìmecký fyzik a nositel Nobelovy ceny za fyziku. Von Klitzing velmi významnì pøispìl k oblasti polovodièù objevem kvantového Hallova jevu, který umožnil pøesné urèování elektrické vodivosti. Jeho objev, který v roce 1985 vyústil v udìlení Nobelovy ceny za fyziku, umožnil ovìøení teorií pohybu elektronù uvnitø atomù a stanovení nového mezinárodnì uznávaného standardu jednotky elektrického odporu - ohmu. Von Klitzing se narodil ve mìstì Schroda v Nìmecku (nyní je souèástí Polska). Klitzing uprchl se svou rodinou a milióny dalších lidí do západní èásti Nìmecka, aby unikl pøed invazí sovìtských vojsk na konci druhé svìtové války. V roce 1969 získal titul bakaláøe na technické universitì v Brunswicku a titul Ph.D. na universitì ve Wurzbürgu o tøi roky pozdìji. V letech 1975 - 1976 pùsobil na universitì v Oxfordu v Anglii, kde provádìl výzkum supravodivých materiálù s použitím elektromagnetù. V roce 1978 se vrátil na universitu ve Würzburgu a pak pùsobil v Laboratoøi silných magnetických polí v ústavu Maxe von Laue a Paula Langevina v Grenoblu ve Francii, kde se svým objevem proslavil a následnì za nìj dostal Nobelovu cenu. Po více než jedno desetiletí byl von Klitzing øeditelem Institutu Maxe Plancka pro výzkum látek pevné fáze ve Stuttgartu v Nìmecku. Hallùv jev, objevený v 19. století americkým fyzikem Edwinem Hallem, je úkaz, pøi kterém zaène elektrický proud protékat vodivým materiálem kolmo na pùsobí magnetické pole. V dùsledku toho se na okrajích vodièe hromadí elektrony. Vzniklý rozdíl potenciálù se pak nazývá Hallovo napìtí. Von Klitzing pøišel na to, že pøi použití velmi silných magnetických polí a pøi velmi nízkých teplotách se toto napìtí mìní schodovitì a to v závislosti na zmìnì velikosti elektrického proudu a vnìjšího magnetického pole. Elektrický odpor se mìní po velmi malých, pøesnì definovaných skocích nezávisle na tom, jaký je použit materiál nebo jakou má tloušku.
