Of course, being a mathematician, I'm a little biased, but to me mathematics is the most intruiging intellectual challenge there is. But above all, it is aesthethically pleasing! To solve mathematical problems is something comparable to listening to good music, eating delicious food or enjoying your favourite art. On these pages I have gathered some information concerning various aspects of mathematics and I intend to let the contents grow.
Have a look at the following links! I hope you will find them interesting and that you may discover at least a glimpse of the beauty of mathematics. Serious stuff Not so serious stuff External links Mathematical journals on the web: Preprints: Links to other mathematical resources on the web:

    American Mathematical Society
The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is dedicated to the interests of mathematical research and education, which it does with various publications and conferences as well as annual monetary awards to mathematicians. It was founded in , the brainchild of Thomas Fiske who was impressed by the London Mathematical Society on a visit to England. The AMS is an advocate of the typesetting programme TeX , insisting that contributions be written in it and producing its own version, AMS-TeX.

    AMS Task Force Cites Department
A task force of the American Mathematical Society , in a report to be released next year, singles out the MU mathematics department for excellence and innovation in several areas: The Task Force on Excellence in Mathematics Scholarship is charged with examining the problems of math departments at research universities. Its goal is to discover innovative methods that universities use to deal with problems and to distribute those ideas for national use. Funded by the National Science Foundation and the Exon Education Foundation, the task force consists of 14 mathematicians from a variety of departments and is chaired by Mort Lowengrub, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University. Chair Elias Saab says he appreciates the role the University administration has played in the department's recognition by the task force.
