IWR White Paper: Emerging Container-on-Barge Transport in the U.S.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF DR. LEONARD SHABMAN AS OUR NEW MAASS-WHITE VISITING SCHOLAR
His presence provides a great opportunity for IWR staff to work with him in applying his talents to the Institute's challenging program of studies.
Welcome. Proceedings of the Navigation Performance Measures Workshop
A workshop was held in Springfield, VA, on 6-7 May to review funding for Civil Works navigation projects and to discuss performance measurement criteria that could be used for funding prioritization. The workshop brought together nearly 120 participants from the ports and waterway industry, trade associations, the Corps of Engineers, and various other federal and state agencies, including the Office of Management and Budget. A presentation on the Corps' navigation program and criteria for budget priorities for FY 2006 may be downloaded from the attached link also available is the attendee list In Memory of Dr. Arthur Maass, 1917-2004
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was indeed fortunate to interact with Professor Maass for over half a century. Several years ago, Dr. Maass graciously donated much of his personal research library to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with the Office of History retaining his personal papers as well as a substantial collection of his books of special historical interest. Other books from Professor Maass’ collection reside in the IWR Arthur Maass-Gilbert F. White Reference Room, including material related to water resources planning in the United States and elsewhere around the world. All the material is available to scholars.
