Current News Notes:
WRCS has collected over two dozen software programs that represent a wide cross-section of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling utilities developed for various applications in water resources engineering.
New Commercial Programs:
  • Aquadyn Hydrodynamic Simulation Package
AquaDyn allows the complete description and analysis of hydrodynamic conditions (e.g., flow rates and water levels) of open channels such as rivers, lakes, or estuaries.
    HYDRONET™
is a powerful DOS based application that solves for the steady-state pressures and flows throughout a fluid conveyance network. HYDROFLO for Windows '95/'98/NT is a tool for the analysis of smaller fluid conveyance systems consisting of one source and one discharge and up to 10 pumps operating in parallel or series. The steady-state pressures and flows for the system are determined.
Channel Design
  • RIPRAP Design System - An easy-to-use design tool for streambank protection. The RIPRAP Design System determines sizing, layer thickness and gradation of rock riprap to protect streams from scour utilizing seven different methods.

  • Groundwater Drawdown
Large-scale pumping of groundwater has caused large drawdowns – long-term drops in groundwater levels – in the Lower Fox River Valley, southeastern Wisconsin and Dane County. Drawdowns can cause serious economic, health and environmental problems: wells run dry and must be drilled deeper; concentrations of arsenic, radium, salts and other naturally occurring substances can reach unhealthy levels; and streams, lakes and wetlands lose water or dry up, depriving fish, birds, amphibians and mammals of vital habitat. Arsenic
Elevated levels of arsenic have been detected in public and private drinking water systems in 30 of Wisconsin 's 72 counties. Long-term exposure to arsenic in drinking water has been linked to cancer of the skin, bladder, prostate, lungs, nasal passages, kidneys and liver.

Since then several million people have used these links to find their dream job in natural resources and environmental occupations. You too can be successful. Yes, good jobs are hard to find. Yes, getting hired can be difficult. But 'hard" and 'difficult' aren't the same as impossible (otherwise salmon wouldn't bother swimming upstream). Get started and don't quit until you've reached your goal. If us '50 something' people can do it, you surely can. Site Dynamics Career Categories links are in the top section.
If you don't find a great job among our vacancy announcements, we've provided you with tons of annotated links to posting places all around the 'net. You should always keep in mind that most jobs webs end up with a mix of listings, not just one profession. I've sorted the sites into groups based on the most common types of jobs posted at each web, but you'll want to check related categories to do a thorough job search.
