Office of Geographic Information As part of the Governor’s Office for Technology, the Office of Geographic Information (OGI) is responsible for encouraging, coordinating, and implementing GIS programs within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. OGI works with both state and local government, and serves as a liaison to federal mapping agencies. Activities include strategic planning, project management, technical and administrative support, dissemination of spatial data, education and training, research, and policy development. OGI also provides staffing and technical assistance for Kentucky’s Geographic Information Advisory Council (GIAC). KY GEO120
To increase the awareness of GIS use throughout Kentucky, the Office of Geographic Information (OGI) will be publishing profiles of GIS activities occurring within the Commonwealth. We plan to highlight Kentucky's 120 counties, including state and/or local organizations, as we recognize the benefits and implications of GIS across the state. Geo120 profiles will be published on the website, including a map with hyperlinks to individual locations/counties. Additionally, OGI and the Governor's Office for Technology will be producing articles for the news section on Kentucky.gov and for Techlines, a state government technology e-newsletter and website.

Field Test Confirms WAAS Provides Sub-Meter Accuracy According to Ron Bisio, the Wide-Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is gaining a reputation as a reliable and accurate source of free Global Positioning System (GPS) differential correction data. Recent field tests of the system indicate that properly equipped GPS users can expect sub-meter correction accuracy in most locations of the United States and southern Canada.

The activities of this work group focused on investigations of modern and ancient glaciated environments utilizing techniques of geographic information systems (GIS). Data may be derived from traditional methods of field mapping, from various types of aerial and space remote sensing, as well as from existing maps and data bases. GAGE commenced its official activity at the INQUA Congress in Berlin, Germany (Aug. '95) and continued through the INQUA Congress in Reno, Nevada USA (July 2003). At the time of the INQUA Congress in 2003, GAGE completed its term of activity and ceased to exist officially. However, some projects may continue within other INQUA organizational frameworks. Welcome to the California Geographic Information Systems (GIS) web portal.  The California Mapping Coordinating Committee (CMCC) is in the process of developing a series of GIS-related web pages to provide information on State government GIS activities, access to statewide GIS data, and links to the larger California GIS community.  This website and the Spatial Information Library are works in progress. Starting July 1, 2001 some of California's physical and cultural geospatial information, formerly distributed by the Teale Data Center, is being distributed to the public by the California Mapping Coordinating Committee through servers at the California Environmental Resources Evaluation System (CERES) in the Resources Agency and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center. Note: CMCC will be working to update and improve some of the spatial data in the library and provide access or links to more up-to-date data served by others over the next several years as need and funding permit.  Caution should be exercised when using some of the layers of data as they are somewhat outdated; particularly those datasets that change rapidly (i.e., schools, health facilities, etc.).  We strongly recommend that users refer to the metadata or information about GIS datasets for appropriate uses of the data, source information, scale information, and general quality.
