Johnson Environmental Concepts
Johnson Environmental Concepts is a geochemical consulting firm offering expertise in the application of geochemistry, environmental chemistry, geology, and hydrology to environmental problems and resource development. Technical skills include geochemical modeling, data analysis and Superfund research. Project tasks have included site investigations, remediation actions, expert testimony, permit applications, environmental impact statements, facility audits, and property assessments. Representative Project sites include Superfund sites, mines and mills, industrial plants, and landfills and waste disposal facilities. Geochemical modeling was recently applied to predicting the water quality of a mine pit lake. Environmental media of study consist of contaminated waste streams, soil, groundwater, and surface water containing metals, inorganic species, and organic compounds such as chlorinated solvents, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and petroleum hydrocarbons. Antioch Quadrangle Geologic Maps and 3-D Model Delivered to USGS The final contract technical report, 6 geologic map products and a three-dimensional digital geologic model of the quadrangle were delivered to US Geological Survey officials during the annual meeting of the members of Central Great Lakes Geologic Mapping Coalition held in Indianapolis. The report presents the results of the three-year pilot study during which various protocols for geologic mapping of the complex glacial deposits, geophysical techniques, and database management were tested and implemented. A compact disc containing pdf files of the report, the maps and selected posters, the written protocols, and the data for the 3-D model has been prepared for distribution to the members of the coalition and to selected agencies and clients. Members of the mapping team also met with Lake County officials and representatives of the USDA-NRCS soils survey mapping team for Lake County to discuss the deliverables from the Coalition's 3-D mapping of the Antioch Quadrangle. Further meetings are scheduled to discuss opportunities for information transfer and data-sharing. (Contacts:

The Petroleum Geochemistry Group at CSIRO Petroleum is focussed on reservoir geochemistry research. We also pursue research into source rocks, thermal maturity and environmental geochemistry. Typically, our applied research involves industry sponsorship and addresses specific issues relating to the exploration and appraisal activities of oil companies. We also carry out some longer term, strategic research. We are a small group organic petrographers fluid inclusion petrographers and isotope stratigraphers and also with organic geochemists from around the World. We have sophisticated and modern instrumentation in a well maintained laboratory, based in North Ryde (Sydney). Capabilities Feedback: [ Simon.George@csiro.au
