Views of the camp include: the entrance with the famous Arbeit Macht Frei gate, the roll call area, the death block, a view from inside the gate, and a view near the gas chamber. (5 movies) Birkenau. Birkenau, though much larger, was a sub-camp of Auschwitz. Views include: an overview of the camp from the watchtower, various roads throughout the camp, the children's barracks, a barracks interior, and several views of crematorium/gas chamber ruins. (12 movies) Majdanek. Majdanek camp and killing center opened near Lublin in eastern Poland in late 1941. VR Juggler - Open Source Virtual Reality Tools
VR Juggler is an active research project headed by Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira and a team of students at Iowa State University's Virtual Reality Applications Center . This ongoing research has produced an open source virtual reality application development framework. "Code Once, Experience Everywhere"
VR Juggler provides virtual reality (VR) software developers with a suite of application programming interfaces (APIs) that abstract, and hence simplify, all interface aspects of their program including the display surfaces, object tracking, selection and navigation, graphics rendering engines, and graphical user interfaces. An application written with VR Juggler is essentially independent of device, computer platform, and VR system. VR Juggler may be run with any combination of immersive technologies and computational hardware. VR Juggler is the core API to build applications, which is supported by: JCCL , the VR Juggler Configuration and Control Library; Gadgeteer , the I/O device management system;

Windows Into Alice's Wonderland A head-mounted three-dimensional display
Quint Foster wearing the Head-Mounted Display circa 1967 Early experiments with head-mounted displays centered on input from servo-controlled cameras which would move with the user's head, and thus move the user's field of view. In one early project at Bell Helicopter Company, the head-mounted display was coupled with an infrared camera that would give military helicopter pilots the ability to land at night in rough terrain. An infrared camera, which moved as the pilot's head moved, was mounted on the bottom of a helicopter. The pilot's field of view was that of the camera. The helicopter experiments demonstrated that a human could become totally immersed in a remote environment through the "eyes" of a camera. With the viewer inside a building, a camera was mounted on the roof, with its field of view focused on two people playing catch. The viewer immediately responded to the motion of the ball, moving the camera to follow the game of catch by moving his head. Proof of the viewer's involvement in this remote environment came when the ball was thrown at the camera, and the viewer ducked! When the camera panned the horizon, the viewer reported a panoramic skyline. When the camera looked down to reveal that it was "standing" on a plank extended off the roof of the building, the viewer panicked!

Virtual Reality (VR) or Visual simulation brings to life static 3-dimensional objects in a synthetic environment that encompasses intelligence and behaviours in a real-time environment. Virtual environments can take a variety of forms from immersive (users are totally immersed into the world through use of head mounted displays (hmd) through desktop (industry standard systems running Windows, Linux and Unix Operating systems) to Projected VR making use of real-time 3D graphics to build cave environments for large scale collaborative design and experience's. This experience can be further enhanced through the incorporation of peripheral devices that enhance the other senses such as Sound (3D audio systems), Touch (haptic response), Grasp ( pinch gloves), position (motion trackers and positional sensors) and Navigation (joysticks and motion tracking devices), Interpretation (3D projection and imaging) Visualisation (immersive headmount display). Industry standards for data exchange allow for Visual Simulation to be a progressive development of existing technology infrastructure. ODBC compliance, DXF and VRML are all standards that provide access to data sources created over a period of time.
