Appunti sui DataBase Relazionali e sul linguaggio SQL
Autore Pietro Suffritti Versione 1.0 basato in origine sul documento "Introduction to Structured Query Language ver. SQL Club on Yahoo!

SQL Database Access with DBTags
by Deepak Vohra In a J2SE or J2EE application, Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) can be used to create a connection with a SQL database, create database tables, retrieve result sets, and update the database. To use a database from a Java Server Page (JSP), one often uses a JSP scriptlet to create a JDBC connection via the method.

Chapter 4
SQL Functions
A function is a special type of command word in the SQL99 command set. In effect, functions are one-word commands that return a single value. The value of a function can be determined by input parameters, as with a function that averages a list of database values. But many functions do not use any type of input parameter, such as the function that returns the current system time, The SQL99 standard supports a number of useful functions. This chapter covers those functions, providing detailed descriptions and examples. In addition, each database vendor maintains a long list of their own internal functions that are outside of the scope of the SQL standard. Lists and descriptions are provided for each database implementation's internal functions. In addition, most database vendors support the ability to create user-defined functions (UDF). For more information on UDFs, refer to the CREATE FUNCTION command in Chapter 3

W32.SQLExp.Worm
Discovered on: January 24, 2003 Last Updated on: February 04, 2003 04:26:32 PM
W32.SQLExp.Worm is a worm that targets the systems running Microsoft SQL Server 2000, as well as Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000. The worm sends 376 bytes to UDP port 1434, the SQL Server Resolution Service Port. The worm has the unintended payload of performing a Denial of Service attack due to the large number of packets it sends.
Symantec Security Response strongly recommends that all the users of either Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or MSDE 2000 audit their computers for the vulnerabilities that are referred to in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-039 and Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-061
Symantec Security Response also recommends that you:
  • Configure perimeter devices to block the ingress UDP traffic to port 1434 from untrusted hosts.
  • Block the egress UDP traffic from your network to the destination port 1434.

For more information on the SQL outbreak, refer to the Web cast at:

SQL and the Macintosh
This page hasn't been updated since 1999 or so. I'll be updating it real soon. This page is devoted to information about using SQL databases on the Macintosh, particularly the application and drivers I have written to talk to mSQL and MySQL databases. Contents:
State of SQL on the Macintosh
The state of SQL on the Macintosh is pretty good right now. Drivers are hard to come by, but the Merant ODBC Driver Manager and drivers are available . While there is no SDK to create ODBC drivers, drivers do exist for most of the major database products. An older driver manager is also available from Open Link Both company's products work on MacOS 8/9 and Merant has announced support for MacOS X. Oracle has native 7.3 drivers available for the MacOS, but you'll find no information about them anywhere on their website. If you'd like to get a copy, contact your Oracle representative and ask for part Z23078-01. Sybase and Pervasive both have native and ODBC drivers available, too. Other products that work on the Mac include
