Mac IRC Clients by Joseph Lo aka Jolo
updated Oct 29, 2003 General Introduction to IRC Ircle 3.1 home page screen cap setup guide For years, Ircle was the gold standard against which all other Mac IRC clients were compared. Ircle is still the most popular Mac IRC client, perhaps in large part because it was full-featured, stable, and fairly easy to use for years before any of the alternatives below even came into existence. Ircle pioneered many ideas: scripting via AppleScript, simultaneous connections to multiple networks, file servers to exchange files, and channel protection features. Since then, however, the competition like Snak (see below) has caught up and even overtaken it in many ways. There hasn't been an official release since 3.0.4 in 1999, but there are 3.1 beta releases mostly to maintain compatibility with OS X. Ircle's support is disappointing: minimal setup guides, barebones built-in help, and no user manual at all. Thankfully, because it's been around so long, there are many 3rd party support sites, free scripts, help channels, etc. Ircle is $20 shareware Setting up Ircle : You can jump right in by selecting one of the pre-configured network/channel combinations from the included "Chat channels" folder. 106. Foreign Language Software For Macintosh
Learning and teaching languages with your macintosh computer.
http://users.netmatters.co.uk/dandaforbes/
I've developed a set of Macintosh programs to help in learning and teaching foreign languages. The programs can be used by students to access multimedia courses, dictionaries, and to practice the foreign language. Teachers can use the software to prepare learning materials. The modular structure of the 'Language Toolkit' programs allows easy customization for individual needs. The diagram presents the components of the 'Language Toolkit'. Language Toolkit programs:

All Dictionaries What's new?
Inflection Dictionaries
Simple Dictionaries Spelling Dictionaries Sample Lessons is a sophisticated application program for practicing inflection, translation and pronunciation at the level of single words. Along with the program, you need a dictionary module for the target language concerned. Features include inflection exercises, and translation exercises in both directions; the opportunity to record and play sound for single words; and exercises based on sound or pictures. You can also play various word-games. The program keeps a record of exercises and identifies the words that the student has difficulty with. You can create grammatical, thematic, or other groups for practicing on. There is generous provision for users to add notes and comments. A Find feature allows each module to be used as a dictionary. The existing modules allow users to delete or change existing entries to suit their own needs, and to add extra words (a built-in 'inflection-generator' simplifies the addition of inflected words). The program can also be used as an authoring tool to write your own modules of inflected words for any language.

Welcome to the Macintosh Garden, a site devoted to preserving Macintosh abandonware games. Abandonware is commercial software that has been discontinued by the publisher and are not sold or supported anymore. If you are the publisher of a certain game on this site, and wish that it is removed, please email me and I will remove the game. The interest for abandonware is increasing everyday. One reason is that the emulators keep getting better and there are quite a few great emulators that runs the MacOS. Another reason is that people realize that all these new "cool" 3D games already have been made. And usually the original is more fun to play. :) The Macintosh Garden is hosted by Home of the Underdogs . Please click on the banner on top every once in a while to support our host.

Overview:
Some of you have probably read a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book as a young child. The premise was simple: read through the book, make a decision at certain points, and go to that page to read on. Some of your choices were right ones, leading to discovery or freedom. Others were wrong and led to capture or even death. King of Dragon Pass seems to be built around that basic idea, and is based in the Glorantha setting from the game Rune Quest. It also adds resource management, social interaction, and an exploration of religion and its effect on your clan. Is King of Dragon Pass a fun game? Is it easy to play? Comments and questions: Jason@Summary.Net
I am a big fan of log analysis program Analog . It is the most popular Analog homepage
Analog is a product of Stephen Turner. I maintain the Macintosh Classic version, and have contributed all of the Macintosh Classic specific code, as a service to the Macintosh user community. I originally ported Analog to the Macintosh because Analog was almost 250 times as fast as the best alternative at the time and it had a much more useful report as well. The full source code for the Macintosh version of Analog is available, including project files for Metrowerks CodeWarrior.
I also produce a commercial log analysis program, Summary , unrelated to Analog. It reports on many things that Analog doesn't, including visit counting, and is easier to configure and use, but then it isn't free.
Analog is currently available in five versions. Analog 5.91b1 an early beta of Analog 6, Analog 5.3, available as a Carbon application for Mac OS 8.1 or newer, including Mac OS X. Analog 4.16 is a Classic Mac application for PPC Macs, Analog 3.2 is available for the 68K (very old Macs). Analog 2.1.1e is the last version with support for NetPresenz log format.
